In addition to writing articles about these titles and upcoming releases, he also oversees content planning for each, ensuring that ScreenRant continues to cover major releases for months after their release.

Amazon MGM's live-action reboot of Masters of the Universe is now in theaters, and its streaming release is likely far off. The new big-budget movie brings He-Man back to the big screen for the first time since 1987, with Nicholas Galitzine trying to prove he has the power of a movie star as he follows in Dolph Lundgren's footsteps of playing Prince Adam.

While Amazon has put its full faith behind the costly $170-$200 million blockbuster, it's yet to be determined if interest will be high enough for Masters of the Universe to be a box office success. As nostalgic as the IP may be for some adults, the movie is targeting a younger crowd, too. A lot of families may be more inclined to wait for a streaming release, even with Masters of the Universe's positive reviews.

Amazon has yet to officially announce when the reboot will hit theaters. Masters of the Universe will stream on Prime Video at the appropriate time. And based on historical trends and data for Amazon's theatrically released titles, we can fairly accurately predict when He-Man's latest adventure will be available to watch at home.

When Masters Of The Universe Could Release On Streaming

As always, predicting a movie's streaming release date really comes down to which studio is involved. Disney is known for longer windows, with Universal adapting more extensive theatrical windows this year, while Warner Bros. and Paramount tend to move releases to streaming quicker based on our 2025 theatrical window and streaming data.

Amazon MGM has not been as prolific a theatrical partner before 2026, and the studio has yet to settle on a standard schedule that can easily be applied to Masters of the Universe. Over the last three years, Amazon has waited as long as 173 days to put The Beekeeper on Prime Video (it went to MGM+ quicker) and as short as 24 days to put Red One on streaming (timed for a Christmas holiday debut).

Overall, Amazon has a 99.7-day average gap between theatrical and streaming releases since 2023 among wide releases. But there are essentially two different models: a sub-60-day gap and a 150+ day gap; only Creed 3 (99-day gap) and Nickel Boys (137-day gap) have done otherwise during this time. Masters of the Universe's box office performance is likely to really determine whether it heads to streaming sooner or later than that average.

The soonest Prime Video subscribers could expect Masters of the Universe to start streaming is August. That would give it just about 60 days in theaters before moving to streaming. If this schedule happens, it will be due to audiences showing little interest in He-Man's big screen revival. A late July launch on Prime Video could happen if the movie truly bombs.

Fans around the world connecting with the reboot will push back the release significantly. Challengers (158 days), A Working Man (159 days), and The Beekeeper (173 days) got longer windows after finding success in theaters; all made close to or more than $100 million worldwide. Project Hail Mary is heading for a lengthy gap after becoming $678 million box office success for Amazon.

So, if Masters of the Universe does click with a global fanbase, anyone who doesn't watch it in theaters may wind up waiting until around November for its streaming debut. A digital release will come much sooner (likely in July) for anyone who absolutely can't make it to theaters or wants to rewatch it from the comfort of their home.

With the data pointing to anywhere from August to November, that four-month range is wider than I typically aim to provide. Given the less-than-stellar box office projections for Masters of the Universe, my prediction will be that it comes to Prime Video earlier in that time frame and starts streaming in August or September.
