Known as 'Cyberpunk 2077's' biggest fan, Angharad is a Welsh games writer who thrives in anything related to digital storytelling. If a video game explores the intricacies and horrors of womanhood, she is there.

Thanks to previous work at GAMINGbible, GameByte, The Loadout, Game Luster, Angharad has built a strong understanding of both the digital world and what fans want from it and is eager to share her thoughts and expertise with readers.

Since 2007, the Mass Effect franchise by BioWare has been leading the charge when it comes to the sci-fi video game genre. Consisting of a beloved trilogy, as well as Mass Effect: Andromeda, which launched back in 2017, the series focuses on a distant future where humanity and fellow alien civilizations have colonized much of the galaxy using technology left behind by previous advanced civilizations.

With the Mass Effect trilogy centered around Commander Shepard, they and their team must save the galaxy from ancient, hibernating machines known as Reapers. Featuring some iconic characters, LGBTQIA+ themes, and sprawling sci-fi maps, it is no wonder that Mass Effect is remembered fondly.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition Is Keeping Fans Occupied

Whilst the wait for Mass Effect 5 is still ongoing, with a recent acquisition throwing a spanner in the works, fans are using this opportunity to catch up on Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, a compilation of the titles in the Mass Effect trilogy: Mass Effect (2007), Mass Effect 2 (2010), and Mass Effect 3 (2012).

The reason why this Legendary Edition is still going strong since first launching back in 2021 is due to the dedicated modding community which regularly releases brand-new content and updates to the PC version of the video game compilation.

As such, over on Nexus Mods, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition features over 2,000 mods to choose from, but if you are interested in which ones have got fans talking, the site has made it easy for us by highlighting some trending mods.

Romance, Music, and Cosmetics

As you can probably already imagine, cosmetic mods for Mass Effect: Legendary Edition are very popular amongst the community, and as of right now, three assorted hair ports by modder englishriviera are trending, with this one in particular boasting the most upvotes.

It adds three hairs ported from Mass Effect 3 to the Legendary Edition, including a fishtail braid, and two looks of different lengths complete with flowy waves.

However, if cosmetics are not your thing, you may want to check out Extended Galaxy Map Music. Created by Audemus, this map replaces the galaxy map music across the trilogy with an extended version of Sam Hulick's "Uncharted Worlds" released in 2026. As the modder explains, "In 2026, original Mass Effect composer Sam Hulick released a new extended version of Uncharted Worlds, the iconic music used while exploring the galaxy map throughout the trilogy. This mod brings that extended version into Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, replacing the short vanilla galaxy map loops with a slightly edited version to ensure proper looping is preserved."

Last, but by no means least, is FemShley - Restored FemShep x Ashley Romance. Thanks to its creator, vyacharin, Ashley's romance route with Commander Shepherd has been restored, alongside compatibility with other major mods.

However, as mentioned, with over 2,000 mods to choose from, you are certain to find something for you for your next Mass Effect: Legendary Edition playthrough.
