Spider-Man endures as one of the most popular superheroes of all time, even taking on other powder kegs of success like Batman. In many countries, he's the number-one hero of all time, as measured by sales, and it's no wonder Peter Parker is constantly popping up in stories across just about every possible medium.

Whether it's adorned on comic pages or on the big screen, Spider-Man will endure for all eternity. Lately, though, fans have been commenting on Spider-Man in a different context.

Across Reddit, fans are discussing the latest death of Spider-Man, and it's not what anyone expected. The circumstances are unique, and it turns out this death is a bit different from the others.

Strangely enough, if you haven't been following the Marvel Rivals stories, perhaps you should. The game has its own lore and continuity, spanning multiple universes within its world. To that end, Marvel Rivals is repeating a popular storyline and killing off one version of the webcrawler.

When explaining their backstory, Daredevil has endured a lot of hardships across multiple timelines, and even cradled Spider-Man in his arms in his version of New York City. "Man, this reminds me of that one Civil War comic where everyone was dying," one fan writes in response. "Don't go to Mephisto for a deal, man," another muses.

Fans are generally impressed by the level of audacity Marvel Rivals reaches, both in its controversial skins and in some of its storyline choices. Reading the in-game tomes is the only way you'll find out about Daredevil's struggle with The Hand and The Beast, as well as his descent into Hell to confront the latter.

Spider-Man NYC Backdrop

As one fan puts it, Marvel Rivals has a lot going on behind the scenes: "Marvel Rivals has loads of Lore. A number of characters are from separate realities; heck, even the Skins have lore reasons or are alternate versions. The Day of the Dead skin is Namor cheering up a sad Peni. Playable Cap didn’t get out of the ice until 2099. Both Black Widow and Punisher are from 2099. Blade has been in the game but was injured, so he wasn’t playable for some time. The reason why a number of X-Men aren’t yet playable or weren’t around in the Krakoa season was that they’re canonically missing."

There's even a lore section in Marvel Rivals, so you can boot up the game for free and peruse the archives if you want to get caught up. The game is still getting a decent amount of updates beyond its seasonal drops, so there's plenty more to discover beyond this recent Spider-Man story.
