Martin Short makes first public appearance since his daughter died at age 42 as he is joined by his two sons

Martin Short made his first public appearance since his daughter Katherine Short died by suicide in February at age 42.

The 76-year-old comedian was at the Los Angeles special screening of his Netflix documentary film Marty, Life Is Short held at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.

He was joined by his two sons, Oliver, 40, and Henry, 36, and their wives.

There was no sign of Short's rumored girlfriend Meryl Streep. 

The Only Murders In The Building star looked happy as he wore a black suit, white shirt and black-and-white plaid tie. 

Short welcomed his three children via adoption with his late wife of 30 years, Nancy Dolman. Dolman died from ovarian cancer at age 58 in 2010.

Also seen was Short's Only Murder In The Building costar Selena Gomez and her husband Benny Blanco.

Kate Hudson was also there as she was chic in an orange gown and high heels.

And some of Short's oldest friends, Eugene Levy and Billy Crystal, were also on the red carpet.

'It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short,' the Short family told the Daily Mail in a statement in February

'The Short family is devastated by this loss and asks for privacy at this time. 

'Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.'

After police revealed that Short's daughter Katherine had died by suicide, his celebrity friends rushed to his side to comfort him.

They were Steve Martin and their fellow Only Murders In The Building costar and rumored lover Streep.

In March the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed that Katherine had 'not been heard from in 24 hours' before her friend called police.

In December Short suffered another loss when his good friend Rob Reiner and his wife were found murdered in their Los Angeles home.
