Married At First Sight stars reveal 2027 season will include three huge bombshells as they welcome new expert

Married At First Sight's 2027 season is already shaping up to be one of its most chaotic yet, with cheating scandals, secret messages, second marriages and cast walkouts threatening to tear the experiment apart.

And now the show's experts have confirmed viewers haven't heard the half of it.

Speaking to Daily Mail at Nine's 2027 Upfronts on Thursday, John Aiken revealed there are three major bombshells set to rock the experiment early in the upcoming 14th season.

The veteran relationship expert made the admission when grilled about Daily Mail's revelations that the new season will feature allegations of cheating, participants privately messaging other spouses and romantic connections developing outside their marriages.

'MAFS just shines a light on what's generally going on out there in the real world,' John said.

'So you just have to wait to see what actually happens, but I can tell you there are three major bombshells early with this season.'

And considering what Daily Mail already knows about the experiment, that is quite the warning.

Daily Mail recently revealed the upcoming season will become engulfed in a sprawling cheating scandal involving secret messages, wandering eyes and romantic connections that threaten to blow several marriages apart.

At the centre of the brewing storm is Byron Bay father-of-two Wintah Cunnington, 29, who is paired with Perth cosmetic injector Kodie Wyatt.

The religious and celibate groom is accused of privately messaging several other brides during the experiment, despite insiders insisting he entered MAFS genuinely hoping to leave with a wife.

Then there is Melbourne carpenter Chris Colombo, who will apparently need two attempts to make marriage work.

Daily Mail revealed Chris secretly married Pilates instructor Chloe in Western Sydney before later being handed another chance at love and walking down the aisle for a second time during the experiment.

Yes, even by MAFS standards, things are getting complicated.

And when Daily Mail asked John directly about 'partner swaps', he wasn't exactly rushing to shut the suggestion down.

'Partner swaps?' he repeated.

'MAFS just shines a light on what's generally going on out there in the real world.'

Fellow expert Alessandra Rampolla was equally coy when asked what she made of spouses meeting up with other people's partners.

'It happens in real life too, and that is part of what we have to showcase in a reality TV show,' she said.

John also teased 'boundary crossing' and rumours spreading throughout the group, suggesting the experts will have plenty to unpack when the commitment ceremonies begin.

'It's very exciting. It's different from last year,' he said.

'We had a lot of women last year that really tried to kind of take over the experiment. We have a very different look this year.

'Some boundary crossing, definitely. Rumours that get passed around the group.'

Alessandra chimed in to promise 'shenanigans left and right'.

Asked whether the 2027 cast were even worse behaved than their predecessors, she laughed before offering a more diplomatic assessment.

'I would never say worse. They're spicy,' she said.

'They're spicy every year in different flavours.'

When Daily Mail suggested that meant they were 'just as bad', Alessandra replied: 'Yes.'

She quickly added: 'Oh, they're just different. Down to earth. They're going through stuff, and we're helping them out.'

One of the biggest surprises of the 2027 season is the arrival of former Love Island Australia star Zac Nunns.

Daily Mail exclusively revealed Zac joined the experiment as an intruder and married TikTok influencer Vanilla Milla in front of the original cast.

His Love Island co-star and best friend Trent Woolman served as best man.

But Zac's arrival immediately raised questions over whether a contestant with an existing reality television profile was genuinely looking for marriage or simply another stint in front of the cameras.

Daily Mail put that question directly to John.

Asked whether casting a former Love Island contestant 'screams not so genuine', the expert defended the controversial decision.

'No, I think what we do on MAFS is we take all comers,' he said.

'Because that's life. People have different backgrounds. It's how they are in the experiment that's really important to us.'

Zac reached the Love Island Australia finale with British reality star Lucinda Strafford before the couple split several months after filming.

But his previous romantic history could prove even more relevant once he enters MAFS.

Daily Mail can reveal Zac previously had a romantic connection with another bride taking part in the 2027 experiment.

Sources say that history becomes a major talking point at a dinner party, sparking questions over who knew about their past and when.

His wedding to Vanilla was also anything but uneventful, with tensions erupting among the cast and one couple reportedly refusing to immediately continue filming following a heated dispute.

John's warning that 'rumours' will spread around the group suddenly sounds rather ominous.

New expert enters the pressure cooker

The cast aren't the only newcomers this season.

John and Alessandra have officially welcomed highly respected relationship expert Marryam Chehelnabi to the panel.

Nine confirmed Marryam as the newest addition to MAFS at its 2027 Upfront, joining John and renowned sexologist Alessandra for the show's 14th series.

And unlike many television personalities parachuted into reality shows, Marryam arrives with some serious clinical credentials.

She was the lead therapist on Couples Therapy Australia and is a PACFA Registered Clinical Psychotherapist.

Marryam also holds a Master of Science in Medicine from the University of Sydney as well as a Master of Counselling and Applied Psychotherapy.

Introducing herself to Daily Mail, Marryam said: 'I'm a clinical registered psychotherapist. I was on Couples Therapy Australia, and now I'm joining this amazing team.'

Asked what she had made of MAFS after getting a front-row seat to the madness, she said there was plenty more than drama unfolding.

'It's exciting. It's really great. There's beautiful love stories. There's the intensity at the dinner parties, as expected,' she said.

And despite joining two experts who have spent years together on the couch, Marryam insisted there had been no turf war.

'This is a beautiful team. I feel very privileged to be joining them,' she said when asked whether she had clashed with John or Alessandra.

John was equally enthusiastic.

'She's fantastic,' he said.

'We all look at relationships through different lenses. And it's been a wonderful sort of team approach.

'We're just delighted to have Marryam on board.'

Alessandra described her arrival as a 'very big deal'.

'I have to say, though, my most exciting [thing] right now is being able to welcome Marryam to the team,' she said.

'It's a very big deal to have her join the show for us, so we're very happy about it.'

Love isn't completely dead

For all the cheating allegations, partner-swapping questions, controversial intruders and second weddings, Alessandra insists there are genuine romances developing among the carnage.

'I absolutely believe in love, and I think that we always get some love stories in there,' she said.

'This year, for sure, we have some beautiful love stories developing, so it's exciting.'

That echoes what insiders have told Daily Mail, with several couples understood to be discussing relocating interstate to continue their relationships once filming ends.
