Days after Spider-Man: Brand New Day's box office success, Mark Ruffalo has broken his silence.
Tom Holland returns for his fourth Spider-Man standalone movie five years after the multiversal story of Spider-Man: No Way Home. This time, director Jon Watts has passed the baton to Destin Daniel Cretton, who crafted a fantastic blockbuster with major implications for the bigger Marvel Cinematic Universe. To say that a lot has happened to the Queens-based hero since, including fighting Thanos and meeting his alternate universe counterparts would be an understatement. In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the story is more mature, as he grapples with the losses of his life.
As with previous Spider-Man films in the MCU, it fully takes advantage of being part of a bigger franchise, bringing back some familiar characters. Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle/Punisher has a more straight-up role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. His tandem with Peter Parker emphasizes on the expanding street-level corner of the universe. That said, Spider-Man: Brand New Day also brings back an original Avenger, as Ruffalo reprises both Bruce Banner and the Hulk in the project.

Throughout the press period for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Ruffalo was absent. It became a topic of conversation among fans, considering that he's always fun during MCU movies' marketing periods. Known for easily spilling spoilers in interviews, there was hope that he would sit down with Holland for some press, since the Spider-Man actor is also known for having loose lips. Unfortunately, Ruffalo wasn't involved during that whole stretch.
In any case, this clears up any percolating theories about potential internal issues between him and the people he worked with in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Ruffalo has been a staple of the MCU since debuting in 2012's The Avengers, but he has yet to have his own film despite the character's popularity. For what it's also worth, it's always great to see a member of the original Avengers.
Considering the ending of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it is curious about what's next for the Hulk. There's no concrete evidence about his involvement in Joe and Anthony Russo's Avengers: Doomsday, which will release at the end of the year. If he sits that one out, hopefully he can return in Avengers: Secret Wars, as it closes out the Multiverse Saga.
