When Apple TV debuted in 2019, nobody thought it would be a contender in the streaming wars. Sure, the streaming platform has deep pockets in its parent company, but with no back catalog to attract subscribers and minimal flagship series like the tepidly reviewed The Morning Show, Apple TV (formerly known as Apple TV+) was an easy service for audiences to turn away from.

If its most recent release, Margo's Got Money Troubles, is any indication, Apple TV is also looking to seriously up its miniseries game. With its first three episodes dropping on April 15, Margo's Got Money Troubles is based on the bestselling Rufi Thorpe novel of the same name. It centers on the titular protagonist, a 19-year-old college student whose affair with her English professor results in an unplanned pregnancy. Needing to make a lot of money fast, Margo becomes a content creator for OnlyFans.

The charming dramedy is clearly a hit with viewers, as Margo's Got Money Troubles shot right to the top of Apple TV's streaming charts, becoming the platform's most-watched series in the US (via FlixPatrol). It also appears that the critics agree with general audiences, as Margo's Got Money Troubles has earned an impressive 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Pundits praised the show's depiction of its messy, lived-in characters, along with the talented actors who play them, with ScreenRant's own Gregory Nussen describing Margo's Got Money Troubles as being "chock-full of distinct characters whose individuality never comes at the expense of the story."

What's great about a series celebrated for its character-driven storytelling is that it's only set up to get better as the story progresses. Based on everything we know about Margo's Got Money Troubles, the best is truly yet to come.

Margo's Got Money Troubles Is Already Shaping Up To Be One Of The Best Shows Of 2026

Margo Millet (Elle Fanning) in her HungryGhost bikini in Margo's Got Money Troubles

Three out of Margo's Got Money Troubles' eight episodes have been released, and though they were all riveting, they haven't even gotten close to the meat of the story yet. Margo (Elle Fanning) has just started her OnlyFans venture, her mother, Shyanne (Michelle Pfeiffer), is newly engaged to her religious boyfriend, and Margo's ex-wrestler father, Jinx (Nick Offerman), has recently come back into her life after a stint in rehab.

Add in caring for a newborn as a single mother, and that is a lot. It sets the stage for juicy yet poignant family dysfunction to come, but that drama wouldn't be nearly as fun to watch were it not for Margo's Got Money Troubles' talented cast. Elle Fanning, who received her first Oscar nomination this year for her performance in Sentimental Value, is an early Primetime Emmy Awards favorite for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, while Pfeiffer and Offerman are also becoming serious contenders in the supporting actor categories.

Upcoming Margo's Got Money Troubles episodes will only see more additions to the cast, with Nicole Kidman set to appear as you've never seen her before. Kidman, who also serves as an executive producer via her production company, Blossom Films, is a verified TV hit maker, with her series Big Little Lies, The Perfect Couple, and the recent Prime Video thriller Scarpetta all buzzy, water-cooler hits.

The next Margo's Got Money Troubles episode will air on April 22, with Apple TV dropping episodes weekly on Wednesdays until the finale, which will air on May 20.

Margo's Got Money Troubles is all but guaranteed to fall into that category, especially as Margo, via her HungryGhost persona, grows her OnlyFans following. Margo Millet also isn't the only recent TV character drawn to internet sex work, as the Euphoria season 3 storyline for Sydney Sweeney's character, Cassie Howard, has gone viral with its controversy over Cassie's professional aspirations.

However, the difference is that Euphoria is an intentionally provocative show, whereas Margo's work in Margo's Got Money Troubles is just one piece of the complex pie that is her life. Margo's Got Money Troubles is, first and foremost, a character study, one that's shaping up to be among the best shows of 2026 — if not the most talked-about.
