She has worked with numerous media outlets, including Burda Media (MSN News), DKODING Media, The Voice of Fashion, Hindustan Times, and more. Throughout her career, she has interviewed an array of people, from CEOs and politicians to filmmakers and farmers.
Fans love horror when it’s done right. Some directors have proven their mettle in the genre with their brand of psychological, body horror, or creature features. Directors like Jordan Peele garnered a lot of praise with films like Nope, Get Out, and Us. Similarly, Robert Eggers has carved a niche for himself with period pieces like The Witch, Nosferatu, and The Lighthouse. Then there’s James Wan, whose work on movies like Annabelle and The Conjuring franchise has excited fans around the world.
As a filmmaker, Wan is considered a modern horror auteur with his influence on several franchises, like Saw. Over the course of the last two decades, Saw has proven to be one of the most successful horror series in history, grossing over $1 billion globally. Even though the movies often see high gross but low critical scores, each new entry is a delight for Jigsaw’s fans. Things took a turn for the better with Saw X, which was both a commercial and critical success, leaving us waiting for the next installment.
For fans of the franchise who want to check out the movies again or get started on them for the first time, you are in luck, as the movies are now available on a new streamer. From 2004’s Saw to 2023’s Saw X, including Jigsaw and Saw: The Final Chapter, the entire franchise is coming to Netflix this March, as per ComicBook.
What Is Next for the Saw Franchise?
More Jigsaw. The 2004 movie introduced the audience to a new kind of villain, who studied his victims before killing them. Jigsaw, played by the brilliant Tobin Bell, was never one to carry out his sadistic tactics mindlessly. He instead wreaked havoc on people who didn’t appreciate life. “This next movie would be the eleventh installment, and there have been lots of films in this world. We need to do something different in order to reach out to a new generation that didn’t grow up with it,” Wan previously stated. Further adding that he and co-creator Leigh Whannell want to take the franchise back to its roots, “Leigh and I both want to recapture the spirit of that first film and revisit Jigsaw’s philosophy, which is that he goes after people who don’t appreciate their lives. If you’re a scumbag, but you appreciate your life, he doesn’t see you as someone who’s wasting your life, so I want to go back to what we touched on in the first movie with regard to that.”
Check out the Saw franchise, now streaming on Netflix. Stay tuned to Collider for more such updates.
