Marathon 'Survival Directive' priority contract walkthrough

1 week ago 12

The "Survival Directive" priority contract in Marathon is one of the very first quests you'll receive, and it takes place exclusively on Perimeter, which has significantly fewer threats roaming around compared to the other zones. You need to download a geological survey and a botany report from Station and Overflow respectively, but finding the specific locations is not easy.

Here's a complete walkthrough for the "Survival Directive" priority contract in Marathon, including where to go in Station and Overflow to find the relevant terminals.

'Survival Directive' priority contract objectives in Marathon

There are two objectives required for the "Survival Directive" priority contract in Marathon:

  • Download geological survey in the southeast building in Station
  • Download botany report from second-floor terminal in Overflow

These objectives can be completed in any order, so we'd recommend heading to the location you spawn closest to. You also don't need to do these in one run, so once you've completed one objective, feel free to get the heck outta there. Here's where you need to go for both.

Where to download the geological survey in Station

Station is the northeasternmost location on Perimeter, but like all the major points of interest, it's a big place. The objective states that you're looking for the southeast building, but there are quite a few smaller buildings in that area, so it's easy to get lost.

The building you're specifically looking for is black with white accents and has two floors. Additionally, it has a tall ladder climbing from the ground floor outside all the way to the top. It's also connected to another, smaller orange and white building by a grey walkway. It's more accurate to say this is just the southernmost building in Station, rather than southeast.

Inside, you'll find an orange computer terminal with a prompt to download the geological survey. Interact with it to complete the objective. Don't worry: you don't need to exfil successfully.

Where to download the botany report in Overflow

The left-hand side of the image shows the player in Marathon jumping on top of the Overflow building while the right-hand side shows the location of the botany report marked on the in-game map by a star icon. Graphic: Ford James/Polygon Images: Bungie via Polygon

For the botany report, you need to head to Overflow, which is in the southwest corner of Perimeter. You know the terminal you're looking for is on the second floor, but again, Overflow is big, so that's a lot of ground to search.

You want to be in the very southwest corner of the main Overflow building for this one. If you climb onto the roof, which is achievable by jumping from the rocky ledge to the south, you'll find a ladder descending inside in the southwest corner. Drop inside and another orange terminal with a prompt to download the botany report will be on a desk in the center of the room.

With that complete, you'll likely want to know how to complete the "Introducing: Traxus" priority contract too, which we also have a complete guide for. Alternatively, check out our breakdown of all the weapons in the game, and each of the classes.
