MAFS 2027 newlyweds kicked off show despite both writing stay - as John Aiken delivers brutal dressing down after weeks of tension

Married At First Sight is set to deliver one of its most explosive commitment ceremonies yet when it returns to screens next year.

Daily Mail can reveal a newlywed couple on the 2027 season have been ordered to leave the show just weeks before the final commitment ceremony.

And in an extraordinary twist, the decision will be taken completely out of their hands.

Relationship expert John Aiken will ask the couple to reveal their decisions as usual, with both confirming they have written 'stay'.

But instead of being allowed to continue in the experiment, they will be told that won't be happening.

John is expected to deliver a stern speech before informing the stunned couple their time on MAFS is over.

'They both wrote stay. They weren't expecting to leave,' one insider said.

'John absolutely tore strips off them before telling them they were done. There was no negotiating it.'

Daily Mail can reveal that the official explanation they were given was that 'the experts no longer believed they could help them'.

According to an insider, there had been growing friction with production in the weeks leading up to their removal, including occasions when they declined to continue filming.

'Leading up to that, there had been tension with production because [they] weren't always willing to go along with the direction things were being pushed,' they said.

'There were multiple times they declined to film because they were mentally and emotionally exhausted,' they said.

Despite being ordered out of the experiment, insiders insist the couple's relationship is anything but over.

Daily Mail understands the pair have already got matching tattoos and are discussing an interstate move so they can continue their relationship away from the cameras.

'They're very much together and taking the relationship seriously,' one source said.

'They're already talking about the future and making plans to live in the same state.'

However, their relationship with the wider group was considerably more complicated.

One insider described the pair as 'full of drama' and claimed they 'love spreading gossip' among their fellow participants.

Others went considerably further, describing the groom as 'unpredictable' and claiming 'security was needed on set'.

The circumstances surrounding those claims remain unclear.

But their removal comes after weeks of growing unrest between some participants and production.

The latest axing is not the only time producers have been forced to intervene during what is shaping up to be an extraordinarily chaotic season.

Daily Mail previously revealed another groom abruptly disappeared from the experiment midway through filming following an alleged off-camera incident.

His sudden exit stunned his fellow participants, who were informed he would not be returning.

There was no emotional farewell on the couch and no final opportunity for the groom to write 'leave', with his time in the experiment instead coming to an abrupt end.

The exact circumstances surrounding his departure have remained tightly under wraps. 

The dramatic axing comes as the upcoming 14th season shapes up to be one of its most chaotic yet, with cheating allegations, secret messages, second marriages, cast walkouts and explosive commitment ceremonies already looming.

And according to the experts, viewers still haven't heard the half of it.

Speaking to Daily Mail at Nine's 2027 Upfronts, John Aiken revealed the upcoming season will be rocked by 'three major bombshells' early on.

'You just have to wait to see what actually happens, but I can tell you there are three major bombshells early with this season,' he said.

John also teased 'boundary crossing' and rumours spreading throughout the group.

'It's very exciting. It's different from last year,' he said.

'Some boundary crossing, definitely. Rumours that get passed around the group.'

Alessandra Rampolla was equally candid, promising 'shenanigans left and right' from the new cast.

Asked whether the 2027 participants were even worse behaved than previous seasons, she laughed: 'I would never say worse. They're spicy.'

'They're spicy every year in different flavours.'

The chaos will also unfold in front of a revamped expert panel, with highly respected psychotherapist Marryam Chehelnabi joining John and Alessandra for the show's 14th season.

Marryam, who previously appeared as the lead therapist on Couples Therapy Australia, said she had already witnessed both sides of the experiment.

'It's exciting. It's really great. There's beautiful love stories. There's the intensity at the dinner parties, as expected,' she told Daily Mail.

John said the new addition had brought a fresh perspective to the couch.

'She's fantastic,' he said.

'We all look at relationships through different lenses. And it's been a wonderful sort of team approach.'

Alessandra described Marryam's arrival as 'a very big deal'.

'My most exciting [thing] right now is being able to welcome Marryam to the team,' she said.

'It's a very big deal to have her join the show for us, so we're very happy about it.
