'Lucky' Ellen DeGeneres swoons over wife Portia de Rossi and shares intimate new photo as they celebrate 18th wedding anniversary

Ellen DeGeneres gushed that she was 'lucky' as she celebrated her 18th wedding anniversary with Portia de Rossi. 

The 68-year-old TV personality, whose plans for a riding arena at her Cotswolds estate were recently dashed, jumped to her main Instagram page over the weekend to upload a sweet post. 

'Happy anniversary to my favorite person in the entire world,' the former talk show host wrote. 

'I can't believe how lucky I am that I get to spend the rest of my life with you. What an adventure we are having!!' 

DeGeneres also uploaded a snap of the couple as they cozied up to each other while sitting outdoors. 

The bright sun shone down on them as the two stars linked arms and flashed small smiles towards the camera. 

Social media users and fans jumped to the comment section to congratulate the pair on the milestone, including Kris Jenner who wrote: 'Happy Anniversary beautiful friends we love you!!!!' 

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for DeGeneres for comment, but has yet to hear back. 

DeGeneres and de Rossi first met back in 2001 while at a concert, and crossed paths once again three years later. 

The pair had been in separate relationships at the time, but after both ended, DeGeneres and de Rossi began dating. 

The two stars confirmed their romance by making their first appearance as a couple at a Golden Globes after party in 2005. 

'It was a big deal for her to be seen with me,' the comedian previously recalled, per People. 

'The very first time we were photographed together was when I joined her at the Golden Globes after party. And that's when everyone knew that we were together.'

In 2008, DeGeneres and de Rossi announced their engagement. 

And later that same year in August, the couple tied the knot during an intimate ceremony at their Los Angeles home. 

DeGeneres opened up about their marriage during an interview with People back in 2016. 

'Portia and I constantly say to each other, "We are so lucky." Sometimes it's lying in bed at night before I go to sleep, and I just say thank you to whatever, whoever is out there.' 

The star continued: 'I've gotten to a place where I really am just settled. Really. I know that I'm not going anywhere. She's not going anywhere.' 

In February 2023, it was revealed that the couple renewed their vows and close pal Kris Jenner notably officiated the ceremony. 

Back in June of this year, DeGeneres and de Rossi were seen sharing a kiss while vacationing on a yacht with The Kardashians star. 

The couple left the United States after Trump's re-election as 47th president in November 2024. 

Both she and de Rossi originally moved into an $18 million house in the Cotswolds area, but the six-bedroom home was met with severe flooding due to Storm Bert.

An insider previously informed the Daily Mail: 'Ellen and Portia have had several issues with the place they initially moved into.

'First there was the flooding, of course, then there was an issue with some locals complaining about some building work carried out at the property.'

DeGeneres and de Rossi then moved to a different property which is only a 30-minute drive from the original home that they had bought. 

However, an insider told The Mail on Sunday late last year that there is a possibility the couple could move back to the US, despite Trump still being in office.

And it was later revealed that DeGeneres and de Rossi purchased a $27 million Montecito property last year in November.

Back in February, the couple were spotted at the residence for the first time as they filmed themselves in the backyard of the mansion.

However, a separate source claimed to Us Weekly that DeGeneres and de Rossi don't have plans to permanently move back to the US

'They are still planning to live full-time in the UK but will spend a few months of the year in Montecito,' the insider told the outlet.

Back in 2020, DeGeneres was embroiled in controversy after being accused of creating a toxic work environment, and later issued an apology.

After nearly two decades of being on the air, The Ellen DeGeneres Show also came to an end just two years later in 2022.

She previously told The Hollywood Reporter: 'I have to just trust that whatever happened during that time, which was obviously very, very difficult, happened for a reason.

'I think that I learned a lot, and there were some things that came up that I was shocked and surprised by. It was eye-opening, but I just trust that that had to happen.'

Back in April, it was revealed that DeGeneres has landed her Hollywood comeback role and is set to reprise her role as Dory in an upcoming short film.

She previously voiced the character in Disney's Finding Nemo (2003) as well as Finding Dory (2016).
