EXCLUSIVE: Ildy Modrovich (Lucifer) will serve as showrunner, writer, and executive producer of the Freida McFadden novel “Dear Debbie” TV adaptation currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios. Modrovich exec produces alongside the previously announced Gina Girolamo (Strega Stories), who is under a new TV overall deal with the studio, and McFadden.
The series will follow the titular brilliant wife, mother, and advice columnist who takes matters into her own hands when a series of injustices forces her down the path of revenge.
Modrovich most recently executive produced Season 3 of the Taylor Sheridan series Tulsa King, starring Sylvester Stallone. Before that, she wrote, executive produced, and showran Lucifer for Fox and then for Netflix, which aired its sixth and final season at the end of 2021.
Earlier in her career, the UCLA theater graduate staffed on CSI: Miami, where she stayed for five seasons until leaving to write for the first season of Showtime’s Californication as a supervising producer. Since then, Modrovich has produced and written for shows such as Eleventh Hour (CBS), Three Rivers (CBS), Forever (ABC), and co-executive produced three seasons of Necessary Roughness (USA). She is repped by Range Media Partners and Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum.
The novel “Dear Debbie” was published on January 27 by Poisoned Pen Press, and currently holds the No. 1 spot on Amazon’s Best Sellers in Psychological Thrillers and No. 5 on their Best Sellers for Books list.
Before that, she released the popular “The Housemade” book series, the first book of which the series is named after, which was recently adapted for film by screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine and directed by Paul Feig. It stars Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, Sydney Sweeney, and Michele Morrone. After 115 weeks, “The Housemade” remains on the NY Times Best Seller list and is currently in the eighth position.
