For the second time this season, a “Love Island USA” contestant has been kicked off the show for using the n-word.
Casa Amor participant Alannah Keyser will no longer appear on Season 8, Peacock has confirmed, after videos surfaced on social media of her singing along to the n-word in a song. Additionally, users have circulated an Instagram comment and a Snap message in which she uses the same slur. The videos were originally posted to private accounts and weren’t shared publicly until after Keyser’s appearance on the show, so they would not have been accessible during Peacock’s vetting process.
Keyser’s exit follows that of Vasana Montgomery, who was booted off the show for the same reason before Season 8 even premiered. But the trend isn’t new: Last year, during “Love Island USA” Season 7, Yulissa Escobar was removed during the second episode because of videos of her using the n-word, and later in the season, Cierra Ortega exited after using a racist term for Asian people that she claimed she “had no idea” was a slur.
In Keyser’s case, both the video and screenshots were posted online after she made her debut on Sunday night and received widespread backlash online.
Keyser is a 21-year-old film student at USC, originally from Miami, Fla. She first appeared on “Love Island USA” Season 8 during Episode 17, when she was introduced as a Casa Amor bombshell. (Casa Amor refers to the show’s midseason twist, which brings in new islanders to test existing relationships.)
“Love Island USA” releases new episodes daily except Wednesdays. Ariana Madix serves as host while Iain Stirling narrates. Executive producers include David George, Adam Sher, Jordana Hochman, Bernie Schaeffer, Ben Thursby-Palmer, James Barker, Blake Garrett, Courtney Rosenthal, Sophie Brown, Richard Cowles, Mike Spencer, Tom Gould, Ali Hill and Martin Oxley. ITV America produces in association with Lifted Entertainment and Motion Entertainment.
