Rohan Naahar is a Weekend News Writer for Collider. From Francois Ozon to David Fincher, he'll watch anything once.

He has covered everything from Marvel to the Oscars, and Marvel at the Oscars. He also writes obsessively about the box office, charting the many hits and misses that are released weekly, and how their commercial performance shapes public perception. In his time at Collider, he has also helped drive diversity by writing stories about the multiple Indian film industries, with a goal of introducing audiences to a whole new world of cinema.

Liam Neeson bounced back after a disappointing box-office run last year with the slapstick comedy film The Naked Gun. It emerged as his first starring vehicle to gross over $100 million worldwide since The Commuter, which was released in 2018. Neeson seems to be making the most of this momentum with his follow-up project, which recently debuted on PVOD streaming platforms to instant success. The movie had a negligible theatrical run a few weeks ago, grossing only $2 million at the box office. However, it wasn't marketed as a big-screen event. Like so many of Neeson's movies from this past decade, it seems to have found an audience at home thanks to positive reviews and the admittedly valuable presence of Stranger Things star Joe Keery.

The movie also features Barbarian's Georgina Campbell, who is set to star in Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker's new Netflix series, as well as the veteran actors Vanessa Redgrave and Lesley Manville. The film combines elements of science fiction with horror-comedy, and follows a trio of characters who attempt to defend themselves against a long-dormant toxic fungus. The movie was written by David Koepp, based on his own novel, and directed by Jonny Campbell. Koepp, of course, is best known for writing Jurassic Park for Steven Spielberg, with whom he is also collaborating on the upcoming Disclosure Day. Campbell, on the other hand, has worked on several popular shows such as Westworld and Dracula. Their film now holds a "Certified Fresh" 78% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes.

Because today is Friday the 13th, let's march our way through the iconic slasher franchise. Ch-ch-ch-ch. Ha-ha-ha-ha.

Liam Neeson Is Back, Baby

It's called Cold Storage, and according to FlixPatrol, it's among the most-watched movies on the domestic iTunes and Amazon charts this week. The Rotten Tomatoes consensus for the movie reads, "A smart but familiar B-movie throwback, Cold Storage delivers campy performances, gooey splatter, and wry sci-fi wit with infectious enthusiasm." In his review, Collider's Nate Richard described the film as a "goofy throwback" and wrote that it is "a far better movie than you'd expect, thanks to its clever script, committed cast, and energetic direction." Neeson has two more projects lined up for release this year — a black comedy directed by Frankie Shaw and an action-thriller directed by Guy Moshe. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
