Liam Gallagher fuels rumours he WILL make a surprise appearance at the BRIT Awards and says he 'can't wait to see old faces' as his brother Noel prepares to receive Songwriter of the Year prize

Liam Gallagher has fuelled rumours that he will make a surprise appearance at the BRIT Awards as he said he 'can't wait to see old faces'.

The Oasis star's brother Noel is confirmed on the guest list for Saturday's ceremony as he is preparing to receive Songwriter of the Year prize.

And for weeks fans have been speculating as to whether Liam will make a surprise appearance alongside his brother after the pair put aside their years-long feud for their record-breaking reunion tour. 

Liam appeared to shut down the rumours earlier this week when he told a host of fans he wasn't going because he 'can't be around those ITV c***s'. 

However in a post on social media on Saturday, Liam appeared to confirm his appearance as he replied to a fan page telling him the train times to Manchester. 

Liam replied, in a comment which he has since deleted: 'I'm already there, drove up last night. Can't wait to see some old faces.' 

After deleting the post, Liam later seemed to backtrack yet again as he replied to a fan asking: 'You winding us up now?'

'I am I'm not going to the awards I’m just in the area keeping an eye on things,' Liam replied. 

His brother Noel is set to receive a major honour at the 2026 BRIT Awards, it was confirmed earlier this month. 

The singer-songwriter, 58, who reunited with Liam for their mammoth Oasis reunion tour, is said to have 'defined British music' after the band took the UK by storm over the summer. 

Noel will be awarded this year’s Songwriter of the Year award, and is expected to be among a string of big names in attendance for the ceremony.

Stacey Tang, Chair of the 2026 BRIT Awards Committee and Co-President of RCA Records at Sony Music UK said: ⁠'For more than three decades, Noel has crafted songs that have become part of our collective story - bold, brilliant, and always recognisable.

'His songs have soundtracked memories for multiple generations and defined the spirit of British music globally.'

She continued: 'Honouring Noel as Songwriter of the Year celebrates a remarkable body of work and a creative force that continues to connect and inspire artists and fans worldwide.'   

A source added to The Sun: 'The Brits are planning a special visual tribute to Noel too, which will showcase some of the highlights of his work before he picks up the awards.' 

The Daily Mail contacted Noel Gallagher's representative for comment at the time. 

The 46th edition of the BRIT Awards launch at Manchester's Co-op Live Arena for the first time tonight.

Since removing gendered categories, such as Best Male and Best Female, the ceremony has faced backlash for the low number of female artists nominated, particularly in 2023 when the Artist Of The Year shortlist was entirely male. 

But 2026 will ring in the changes, with 70 percent of this year's nominations being female or non-binary.

Lola Young and Olivia Dean lead the nominations with five each, closely followed by comeback queen Lily Allen, who has been recognised in three categories for her critically acclaimed fifth album, West End Girl.

The singer, 40, used the album to chronicle the collapse of her marriage to Stranger Things star David Harbour and his alleged infidelities while they were together.

She will go up against both Young and Dean for Artist Of The Year at the ceremony, while also competing for Album Of The Year and Pop Act.

Olivia, 26, became the first woman to claim the UK's No 1 single and album in the same week since Adele in 2021, with her song Man I Need and album The Art Of Loving, both released in 2025. She has been nominated in five categories and will be performing at the Award ceremony.

The BRIT Awards have been held annually at London's O2 Arena since 2011, but the Daily Mail revealed that the annual showpiece, regarded as the biggest night in British music, will be held in Manchester this year and is likely to move around the UK in different locations for the foreseeable future.

Comedian Jack Whitehall returns to present the ceremony for the sixth time, having previously hosted the event in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2025.

He stepped away in 2022 when Mo Gilligan took over for two ceremonies, and Maya Jama, Roman Kemp, and Clara Amfo co-hosted the event together in 2024.

It will be his first time presenting in Manchester, and Whitehall, 38, credits the city as shaping his early comedy career after he studied at The University Of Manchester.
