The Legend of Zelda is going through a really important time as a franchise right now, with the 40th anniversary being marked this year, and several rumored projects in the works.
We're still waiting on the announcement of the next mainline game in the series, and rumors continue to swirl of an upcoming Ocarina of Time remake. At the same time, the big-budget movie adaptation is in the works, and though the latter has largely been shrouded in mystery up to this point, we've just been given our first look at one of Link's iconic appearances, and it's generating a ton of hype among the fan base right now.
Link's Official Look In The Zelda Movie Has Gamers Hyped
NintendoOver on Twitter/X, user Stealth shared a post from the film's Director of Photography, Gyula Pados. In it, had shared an image of the movie's slate, which features an image of a determined looking Link in his full tunic with a sword.
This is the first time we have seen that ensemble, and it's safe to say fans are hype. "It makes a bit of sense that they chose the design of Link from Twilight Princess, since it's the most 'realistic' of all the Links in the saga, and because the movie is going to be live-action," one response read.
"Twilight Princess design with a cloak?? Holy hell, that’s dope. Might be SS too, but the colors are closer to TP," another added.
Over on Reddit, others shared their responses to the image, and most were again very positive. "Cool patch. What an awesome thing to hold onto. I hope this turns out to be great. Not holding my breath but keeping an open mind," one said.
While it is important to note that what you see here is concept art, it's a fairly safe bet that if they went to the trouble of printing it on the clapper, then it's likely quite similar to what the final project will appear as.
The Twilight Princess Inspirations Are Clear
If we had to pick a game where Link's design appears most similar to the brief glimpse we have been given here, it's probably the more mature approach taken in Twilight Princess. That was a wonderful entry in the series in its own right, with many selecting it as their best ever, so it makes sense that they have gone with a design of that ilk for the movie.
The Legend of Zelda is set to arrive on the big screen on May 7, 2027, so we don't have too long to wait to see exactly what the production team has been cooking up.
