Lady Gaga Pays Tribute To Mister Rogers With Reimagined “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” Theme Song In Super Bowl Commercial

Lady Gaga has reimagined the theme song to Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood for a new Super Bowl commercial.

The Mayhem artist stars in an ad for Redfin and Rocket, covering the theme song “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” that Fred Rogers sang in the PBS series.

“I just think about my earliest memories as a kid watching Mister Rogers, and I think about how much he meant to people, especially kids at home,” Lady Gaga says in the preview for the ad posted on Instagram.

The commercial features the singer creating the cover of the song until she finally gives it that Lady Gaga twist at the end.

“Mr. Rogers was so clearly someone that stood for something, and it is powerful to think of what he would say right now, and it’s kind of a special song to revisit at this time,” the singer says in the ad. “It was interesting to create something really heartfelt that keeps the purity and beauty of the original version but does it in a new way.”

The cover of the Mister Rogers theme song comes at a very poignant moment in time, as PBS lost federal funding and the government divides the country as ICE raids terrorize cities across the U.S. The theme song to the children’s series takes people back to a nostalgic era when positive messages about helping your community create something bigger prevailed.
