Kyle Sandilands reveals his brain aneurysm has grown - and makes heartbreaking plea: 'I don't want to die'

Kyle Sandilands has revealed the brain aneurysm he was diagnosed with last year has grown.

The veteran presenter, 55, shared the news on his new Kyle Sandilands Live subscription show, revealing he had taken some time off work to get a medical checkup - and the results were not what he hoped for.

'So, today's the day I've been dreading. Well, it's grown a little bit, which isn't great news,' Kyle said, in a live-feed from the local clinic.

He later told listeners he was taking time to process the doctor's update that the aneurysm had grown by a further millimetre. 

Sandilands said: '(It) seems small, but I didn’t want to get that, wasn't the thing I wanted to hear. 

'I was hoping – and in my mind – I thought "I've got this, I'm gonna make it smaller"... but it was bigger.' 

Kyle finished by saying the doctors were not yet prepared to try surgically removing it, as that was more risky than leaving it be. 

'A life of bad choices has probably led me here. I'm full of regret. I do not want to die and I do not want to be carved up,' he said. 

Kyle first went public with his health condition in February last year, revealing the aneurysm was four millimetres in size, with it growing by 25 percent over the past year and a half.

At the time, Kyle shocked listeners when he revealed he required immediate surgery after doctors detected one aneurysm on his brain and a second one in his chest.

In January, he said the outlook was good, telling the Daily Telegraph that the aneurysms had stabilised.

'They re-looked at all those scans and said it's good,' he said.

'It's good because when they first found it they weren't sure whether I had it for 30 years or 30 days.'

He went on to say the chance of complications with surgery on his brain aneurysm is high, adding that doctors would have to 'cut his face off'.

At this stage, doctors are keeping an eye on its size, while the aneurysm in his chest is 'not operable yet'.  

'It's not small, and smaller ones than the one that I've got have bled out and had problems, but it's not really the s*** we need to get in there right now, so I plough on,' he said.

Kyle first broke the news to listeners on The Kyle & Jackie O Show back in February 2025, warning of the dangers of hard living.

'On Friday, I was told by my medical team - which sounds like I'm already very sick, that I have a brain aneurysm and it requires immediate attention,' Kyle said. 

'My doctor said if I didn't get it checked, I would have died. A life of cocaine abuse and partying are not the way to go!'
