Timothée Chalamet's Mom Honors Kylie Jenner’s Grandmother MJ Shannon After Her Death
New details have come to light regarding Kris Jenner’s mom Mary Jo “MJ” Shannon’s death.
Less than two weeks after MJ died surrounded by her loved ones, her death certificate, obtained by E! News, confirmed that the 91-year-old’s death was caused by acute cardiopulmonary arrest.
MJ—who was the grandmother to Jenner’s kids Kourtney Kardashian, 47, Kim Kardashian, 45, Khloe Kardashian, 42, Rob Kardashian, 39, with late ex Robert Kardashian, as well as Kendall Jenner, 30, and Kylie Jenner, 28, with ex Caitlyn Jenner—had other ongoing conditions that contributed to her death including acute respiratory failure and metastatic lung cancer.
The Kardashian matriarch died on July 16 in the hospital, per the certificate, just 10 days shy of her 92nd birthday.
Following the death of her mom, Kris shared a heartfelt tribute honoring her full life.
“There are no words that could ever capture what she has meant to me or the heartbreak of having to say goodbye,” Kris wrote in a July 16 Instagram post. “My mom was the heart of our family.”
Indeed, the 70-year-old emphasized that her mom taught her “everything that truly matters."
“She taught us that family is everything,” Kris continued. “She showed us how to love unconditionally and how to find joy in the little moments. She showed me how to face life’s challenges with resilience and faith.”
And while The Kardashians star was grieving the loss of her mom’s life, she maintained the family will continue to “ find comfort knowing that love like yours never truly leaves us.”

“Your love will live on in our family, in our traditions, in every moment we are together,” she added, “and in every life you touched.”
Meanwhile, Kim noted how her grandmother left a permanent mark on her life in a massive way.
“You were the woman who showed me what it meant to be a hardworking businesswoman,” the 45-year-old wrote in an Instagram tribute July 16. “You always believed in me, championed me, and were my safe place.”
As Kim put it, “You truly were the matriarch of our family, and your love is woven into all of us.”
