HUNTR/X and Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters reached a historic milestone at the Grammys, as the movie's song, “Golden”, secured a major win.

KPop Demon Hunters was an overnight sensation. The Netflix animated feature became the most-streamed title of 2025. With the total viewing minutes being 20.5 billion and the movie's total running time of 99 minutes, this would equate to 207 million complete views.

Singers EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami earned their first Grammy Award when the song won Best Song Written for Visual Media. Performed by the trio and co-written by EJAE alongside Mark Sonnenblick, DO, 24, and Teddy. This is the first time a K-pop song has ever won a Grammy, making their victory all the more special. "Golden" was nominated for four Grammys in total. The hit movie has also been nominated for an Oscar, as well as winning awards at the Critics' Choice Awards and Golden Globes.

In the Best Song Written for Visual Media category, “Golden” was joined by several other worthy nominees. Their competition included Elton John and Brandi Carlile's “Never Too Late”, Miles Caton's “I Lied to You”, Jayme Lawson's “Pale, Pale Moon”, Nine Inch Nails' "As Alive As You Need Me To Be", and "Sinners" by Leonard Denisenko, Rodarius Green, and Travis.

Although they did not sing at the Grammys, Nuna, who portrayed Mira in KPop Demon Hunters, has explained the significance of the nomination in the past, highlighting its potential impact on K-pop representation and the message it sends to the next generation of musicians about what is possible. According to Variety, she previously stated:

You’re going to see three Korean faces. To think about the kids who are going to see that, and hopefully for that to shape their understanding of what they can do in this world, is the stuff that is giving me chills up my spine.

Produced by Sony Pictures Animation, KPop Demon Hunters finished at the top of the year-end rankings. Its strong streaming performance prompted Netflix to allow the film to have a limited theatrical release, as it did with the Stranger Things finale and Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein.
