“KPop Demon Hunters,” Netflix’s animated phenomenon, swept the 2026 Annie Awards, winning Best Feature at ASIFA-Hollywood’s annual awards ceremony recognizing the greatest animated achievements of the year. The ceremony was held February 21, at UCLA’s Royce Hall in Los Angeles, California, and honored film, TV, and multimedia works.

In addition to Best Feature, “KPop Demon Hunters” also won eight other awards, including Best FX, Best Character Animation, Best Character Design, Best Direction, Best Music, Best Production Design, Best Editorial, Best Writing, and Best Voice Acting, for Arden Cho’s performance as Rumi.

“Arco,” the French animated feature from debut filmmaker Ugo Bienvenu, won Best Independent Feature. Best Storyboarding went to “The Bad Guys 2.” The award results comfortably position “KPop Demon Hunters” — which has dominated the award season race this year, winning the Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award in addition to several critic group’s prizes — for a presumed win in the Best Animated Feature category at the Oscars next month.

“Snow Bear,” an animated short by Aaron Blaise, won the Best Short Subject category after having missed the final five nominations of the Oscars category. On the TV end, Adult Swim thriller “Common Side Effects” won four awards, including Best TV/Media for Mature Audiences, Best Direction, Best Writing, and Best Editorial.

In addition to the competitive award, several juried prizes were given out during the ceremony. The Winsor McCay Award recognizing lifetime contributions to animation were given to Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, Chris Sanders, and Michaël Dudok de Wit. The June Foray Award for significant impact to the animation community was given to Sandy Rabins, who led the AnimAID relief fund to support those affected by the 2025 LA wildfires. The Ub Iwerks Award for technical achievement was given to Cintiq manufacturer Wacom. The Special Achievement Award was given to LightBox Expo, and The ASIFA-Hollywood Merit Award was given to Jeffrey New and Haley Mirren Douthit.
