The Live with Kelly and Mark co-hosts, who tied the knot in 1966, provided an inside look into their luxurious, French-inspired townhouse in the Upper East Side—or as they call it, their “favorite place on Earth.” And along with the furniture they sourced directly from Parisian flea markets, the chic interior has a few unique features that may catch your eye.
Including a large, gold-framed mirror placed directly at the foot of their bed—though it’s not what you think.
“Don’t think we’re crazy about putting a mirror in front of our bed,” the 53-year-old joked in their Architectural Digest home tour on Dec. 10, “It hides a TV.”
“We don’t stare at ourselves,” Kelly, 54, added, “we watch Judge Judy.”
The bedroom, where Kelly admitted she spends most of her time, is inspired by the “sexy” and “peaceful” ambience of a European hotel, and also features an accent wall hand-gilded in silver leaf.
But once you leave the haven that entertains the couple’s Judge Judy marathons, you are welcomed into the hallway by three sizeable eyeball paintings. As it turns out, the eye-catching art pieces are realistic recreations of the eyeballs of their three children Michael, 27, Lola, 23, and Joaquin, 21.
“The artwork that we have in the hallway is from an artist named Marc Quinn,” Mark noted, while Kelly explained, “He photographs the eye, and he paints the eye but from the inside looking out so it’s not a print, it’s not a photograph.”
And with their children out of the house, the art pieces act as a sight for sore eyes.
“They don’t live here anymore, so when we leave our bedroom, it feels like they’re still with us,” the Riverdaleactor said, to which his wife added, “I could stare at my kids’ eyes forever, I just think they’re great.”
And though their penthouse is now void of kids, the couple continues to share their bedroom and closet—despite their friends questioning why they don’t take over the empty bedrooms.
“We’ve always shared a bathroom and a closet,” the Live Wire author shared, “and I don’t think we will ever not share a bathroom and a closet.”
After all, even when it comes to sharing their dream home, these two are the perfect pair.
“I just feel like you and I live well together,” she said to her husband of 28 years. “We’ve moved several times in our lives, but no matter where we go, for me this is my forever home.”
