Collin Gosselin Alleges Mom Kate Gosselin Prayed to Stop Hitting Him
Kate Gosselin is mourning a loss that came too soon.
The Kate Plus 8 star shared that her and boyfriend Steve Neild’s dog Meika suddenly died July 25 at just 15 months old.
“I have tried to write this a few times over the last few days,” Gosselin wrote in a July 28 TikTok post. “It feels too final to put it on paper, so to speak. We lost Meika in the middle of the night on Saturday. She went into respiratory failure and they couldn’t revive her.”
Considering Gosselin had only adopted her pup just over a year ago, the former reality TV star emphasized, “I have NEVER in my life been so broken, angry or grief stricken."
Indeed, the 51-year-old—mom to twins Mady and Cara Gosselin, 25, as well as sextuplets Collin Gosselin, Joel Gosselin, Aaden Gosselin, Leah Gosselin, Alexis Gosselin and Hannah Gosselin, 22, with ex Jon Gosselin—noted she and her boyfriend, as well as their other dog Koda, have been “suffering” since Meika’s death.
“Please give us time to grief and we will be back at some point,” Gosselin added. “Our baby, the closest thing to a child Steve and I will ever have, was only 15 months and 10 days old. Life is so unfair. This one I’ll never heal from.”
Gosselin’s loss of her dog comes amid other challenges within her personal life. In June, she addressed her son Collin’s upcoming memoir, In the Shadow of Eight, in which he will detail the alleged mistreatment he faced from his mother growing up.
For her part, Gosselin has maintained that her son’s allegations are false—but explained why she hasn’t taken legal action to prevent the release of the book.

“The rules are different for ppl in the public eye," Gosselin wrote to a fan on TikTok last month. “I consulted a high power LA attorney (you've definitely heard of him) years ago when other ppl were putting crazy stuff out there and that's what he said. The courts don't honor it if you're in the public eye.”
Plus, as Gosselin noted in a separate comment, “Malice is one of the hardest things to prove.”
Meanwhile, Gosselin’s son sees his memoir as a way to take control of his own narrative after growing up on reality television.
“My life was always broadcast to millions, but what was actually happening in my life was never shown—in fact, much of it was deliberately kept hidden,” he told US Weekly in a statement last month. “For years, other people told my story through headlines, television episodes and public speculation.”
As the 22-year-old put it, “The book is about truth, survival, resilience and finding my voice after years of being silenced.”
