Karl Stefanovic leaves Today co-hosts speechless as he exposes bare stomach live on air

Karl Stefanovic left his co-hosts speechless when he exposed his stomach live on air on Wednesday's episode of Today.

The 51-year-old pulled the stunt following a segment featuring Australian actress Samara Weaving, who is heavily pregnant with her first child.

During her interview, Samara, 34, appeared on camera in a skimpy black top that showed off her enormous baby bump.

Once the cameras cut back to the studio, Karl was seen with his shirt unbuttoned, leaving co-host Sarah Abo in stitches.

'Little fashion inspiration there [Sarah],' entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins told Karl's co-host, who is also heavily pregnant.

'I don't know if it's inspiration for me or my co-host,' Sarah, 39, joked before adding: 'I think my belly is going to stay firmly under wraps.

'Sorry about that, everyone, let's move on, shall we?' she continued. 

Karl wasn't finished with his antics and continued to show off his trim stomach.

'Oh, put it away, we're done with it, come on, cover it up,' added Sarah. 

'How good is being pregnant? Just timeless material,' Karl replied, while newsreader Jayne Azzopardi covered her face in embarrassment.

It comes after Samara announced she was expecting her first child with her movie director husband Jimmy Warden.

The actress shared the exciting news in December by posting a gallery of baby bump photos to Instagram during the press tour for her upcoming movie Ready or Not 2: Here I Come.

Home and Away alum Samara confirmed her secret marriage to Jimmy in 2022, mentioning him as her 'husband' during an interview.

Meanwhile, Sarah is expecting her first child with her husband, Cyrus Moran.

The Today show star broke down in tears when she announced her pregnancy news on the breakfast show last week.

'I'm going to try and fail to maintain my composure. But yes, Cyrus and I are expecting a little baby,' she said.

'I know, it's obviously very happy news and everything... It hasn't been the easiest journey to get here, which a lot of people I know have gone through and will go through.

'It's not as easy as you sometimes think that pregnancy will be.

'So, it has been a bit of a bumpy ride, but here we are. And yes, it's getting harder to hide. As much as I'd like to bury my head in the sand and not address it, I think, yeah, we're almost halfway now.'

Sarah's co-host Karl Stefanovic also became teary as he shared his best wishes for the expectant couple.

Shortly after the segment aired, Sarah took to Instagram to reflect on her happy news, uploading a photo of herself posing with her bump on display in a sheer long-sleeved top.

'Well, I can't keep trying to hide under a rock...! Yes, there is a baby in there. It's our happy news after a bit of a bumpy ride,' she wrote.
