It finally happened: Sony’s highest-grossing movie ever, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is now the top-grossing movie ever at the domestic box office, defeating Star Wars: The Force Awakens ,which held the record for the past 10 years with a cume of $936.66M.

As of Tuesday, Spider-Man: Brand New Day counts a running domestic cume of $936.7M. Tuesday’s gross was $915k.

Here’s a list of the domestic B.O. milestones for the Destin Daniel Cretton-directed sequel starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, which opened on July 31:

  • Biggest domestic opening weekend of all time ($360 million). Also, biggest North American opening ever for Cretton, Zendaya and Holland.

Worldwide, the pic stands at $2.45 billion, and will continue to rank third on the all-time list behind 2009’s Avatar ($2.92B) and Avengers: Endgame ($2.799B). The latter pic is getting a re-release this month and likely will increase its lead over Brand New Day. Holland also starred in Endgame, so it’s his highest-grossing movie ever. Brand New Day remains Cretton and Zendaya’s top-grossing movie.

With a global opening of $932M, Brand New Day is the second-biggest of all time behind Avengers: Endgame‘s $1.22B in 2019.
