Kagurabachi is one of the most highly anticipated upcoming anime, and a new fan poster just effortlessly fueled the hype. 2024 was a worrying year for Shōnen Jump as several major franchises like Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia came to an end. Kagurabachi has been one of the manga to rise to the occasion, filling in the gaps while showing its promise.
Debuting in late 2023, Kagurabachi is mangaka Takeru Hokazono's first serial release, and it's been performing spectacularly well in the year and a half since. With only five volumes published as of the time of writing, it's still relatively early in the young manga's run. Nonetheless, the series' hard-earned fans have been clamoring for its adaptation, and a recent fan-art poster brings their collective dreams to life.
A New Kagurabachi Poster Is One Fan's Celebration Of A Cutting-Edge Series
Kagurabachi Needs An Anime Now, And The Fanart Poster Shows Precisely Why
In anticipation of the upcoming Kagurabachi anime, X user @cpasDryNa posted a fan-art Kagurabachi poster, and it's absolutely killer. It depicts main character Chihiro Rokuhira from the rear in an absolutely stunning display that accurately captures the essence of Kagurabachi. Notably, the poster is also evocative of key visuals for series like Demon Slayer.
Much like Demon Slayer, Kagurabachi is renowned for its swordplay—Kagurabachi even more so, really. For the uninitiated, the series centers around Chihiro's quest to avenge his father and reclaim his Enchanted Blades. The intensity of good, well-considered swordplay is perfectly rendered by the fanart poster, as majestic effects ripple around Chihiro's blade. The magic and mystique of all the best shōnen of recent years are present in the immaculate fanart poster. It's the type of work that makes the hype for Kagurabachi's intended anime reach a fever pitch.
Where Is Kagurabachi's Highly Demanded Anime?
Details on Kagurabachi's Anime Remain Sparse, But Fans Have Lots Of Reasons To Be Excited
So where is that anime, anyway? The story behind Kagurabachi's anime is actually fascinating, and it should compel people who were already intrigued by the concept to check it out. Despite being one of Jump's biggest manga at the moment, Kagurabachi isn't getting the MAPPA treatment, like anime's "Dark Trio" (Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, Hell's Paradise) or Attack on Titan's final season, nor is it set to be under Ufotable's dominion like Demon Slayer or Bleach and Naruto's Studio Pierrot.
Kagurabachi is instead going for a bold move: two lesser-known studios, Shochiku, an industry veteran with a long history but which has mostly fallen to the wayside, and CygamesPictures, the new animation studio wing of mobile game giant Cygames. The motivation behind this decision is simple: they're not overworked, and they'll be able to devote all of their time and attention to Kagurabachi. Although the intentions aren't primarily based in the industry's notorious problems with crunchy and overwork, it's still exciting and pleasant to hear.
At any rate, Kagurabachi's anime has been effectively greenlit, although details remain sparse as of now. In fact, even many of the more concrete details available—like CygamesPicture's involvement—have yet to be fully elaborated by the studios themselves. For now, Kagurabachi fans will have to sit tight and wait for more info and, inevitably, for the epic teasers and trailers to come.
