How Jessica Biel "Tried to Spoil" Justin Timberlake for His 45th Birthday
Justin Timberlake is fighting to maintain his privacy.
Following the Grammy winner’s 2024 arrest for driving while intoxicated in Long Island, New York, he filed a legal petition to block the public release of police body camera footage from the incident.
In court documents obtained by MS Now, Timberlake’s legal team stated they are aiming to stop the disclosure of the video on the grounds that it depicts private details about the singer that are not relevant to "any law enforcement action of public concern.”
"The harm from public exposure—stigma, harassment, reputational injury, and the permanent loss of privacy,” his attorney noted in the docs, "is immediate and irreparable.”
The *NSYNC alum’s legal team also said that the video captured personal moments beyond the arrest.
As one of Timberlake’s lawyers Edward D. Burke Jr. said in court documents, per MS Now, "The body-cam footage captures approximately eight hours of continuous recording and encroaches upon areas of Petitioner’s life and emotional state that have no relevance at all to Petitioner’s arrest.”
Burke also noted in a Mar. 1 letter to Sag Harbor’s chief of police that the video shows other civilians near Timberlake, 45, who "retain legitimate privacy interests."
Shortly after their filing, Timberlake’s attorney shared an update on their legal process.
“Mr. Timberlake sought a temporary restraining order, and preliminary injunction to prevent the Village from doing so,” his attorney said in a statement to E! News. “A conference was held in Supreme Court, County of Suffolk yesterday before Justice Joseph Farneti. Special counsel for the Village and Mr. Timberlake’s attorneys appeared before the Court. The Court took no formal action on the matter yesterday in order to allow the parties to confer on a potential resolution of the matter and for the Village to respond to the lawsuit.”

Meanwhile, Vincent Toomey, a lawyer for the Village of Sag Harbor, noted to NBC News that the Sag Harbor police department previously planned to release the footage with “certain” redactions.
E! News has reached out to reps for the Sag Harbor Police Department but has not yet heard back.
The Friends with Benefits actor—who shares kids Silas, 10, and Phineas, 4, with wife Jessica Biel—was released one day after being in arrested in June 2024. He was later charged with one count of driving while intoxicated during a morning arraignment, according to police.
Days after the incident, the “Suit & Tie” hitmaker pleaded guilty to a non-criminal traffic violation of driving while impaired, according to MS Now, also agreeing to pay a minimal fine and complete 25 to 40 hours of community service.

Following his appearance in court, Timberlake expressed his regret over the situation.
“As you may know, I try to hold myself to a very high standard and this was not that,” he told reporters outside of the courtroom in September 2024. “I found myself in a position where I could’ve made a different decision, but I’ve had some time to reflect on that and I also understand why—the fact that all of you are here—that I have a platform, you have a platform, we share that platform."
"And so what I’d like to say to everyone watching and listening, even if you had one drink, don’t get behind the wheel of a car,” he added. “There’s so many alternatives. This is a mistake that I made, but I hope whoever is watching and listening right now can learn from this mistake, I know that I certainly have.”
