Netflix's hit basketball comedy series reveals a first look at its second season, which is coming very soon.

Running Point, starring Kate Hudson and Justin Theroux, premiered on Netflix in February 2025. It follows Isla Gordon (Hudson), who takes over as the President of the LA Waves basketball team when her brother Cam (Theroux) goes into rehab. In Running Point season 2, however, tensions are rising between the siblings as Cam schemes behind Isla's back to regain his position.

On Thursday, Netflix revealed a dozen first-look images from Running Point season 2 and confirmed its release date to be April 23. The new stills showcase Hudson, Theroux, and the rest of the main cast, which includes Brenda Song, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, Toby Sandeman, and Uche Agada. Check out some of these images from season 2 below:

Netflix also shared the second season's synopsis, teasing how "As [Isla] tries to balance the pressure of running a franchise with devoting time to her personal life, every decision on and off the court counts. To survive the family power plays and the scrutiny of the board, she'll have to rip up last season's game plan and come up with a whole new playbook if she wants to close out the season on top."

Running Point's showrunner is David Stassen, with Hudson, Stassen, Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, Howard Klein, Jeanie Buss, and Linda Rambis also serving as executive producers. The show has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 79%; when Rachel Labonte reviewed Running Point for ScreenRant, she gave it a 7 out of 10, calling it a "breezy watch full of mostly memorable characters, family hijinks, and the occasional basketball montage."

But even more noteworthy is how Running Point was a major streaming hit and will certainly be popular again when it returns. Meanwhile, star Kate Hudson is earning more acclaim and attention, which could potentially boost Running Point season 2's performance in April. Hudson was just nominated for the Best Lead Oscar actress in Song Sung Blue, making a major awards comeback.

Theroux, best known for the likes of American Psycho and Mulholland Drive, also just returned in another streaming juggernaut. Theroux reprises his recurring role of Robert House in three episodes of Fallout season 2, which has been dominating Prime Video's streaming charts since December 2025. Thus, Theroux is likely to see the continuation of his winning streak on streaming with Running Point's return.

We will soon find out what's next in the wild story of Isla's mission to run her family business while dealing with her actual family, which had viewers laughing out loud throughout season 1. From what Netflix has revealed, it will still be a complicated business for the Gordons to handle the team, the press, and each other, with Hudson and Theroux again being the driving force behind the comedy.

All episodes of Running Point season 1 are available to stream on Netflix.
