‘DWTS' Host Julianne Hough Reveals Her Current Relationship Status

No, this isn’t some form of wizardry.

Derek Hough and Julianne Hough really did appear in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone when they were kids.

This revelation was made for many fans after the Dancing With the Stars judge posted a video of the siblings' cameos in the 2001 movie to Instagram.

“Did you know @juleshough and I were in the first Harry Potter film?” Derek wrote alongside the footage Dec. 4. “We spent three months in the Great Hall, the Forbidden Forest, and even the Quidditch pitch! It was incredible to be part of such a historic moment. And I may have ‘accidentally’ taken a Ravenclaw robe, scarf, tie, and a few pieces of silverware from set… but shh, don’t tell!”

In fact, the six-time mirrorball champion noted he even “stood in for Draco Malfoy to set up shots”—though the character was played by Tom Felton.

Still, it’s not like Derek and Julianne have kept their Potter past in the chambers of secrets. On the contrary, they’ve spoken about their experiences, including how they got the gig.

"We lived in London as kids, from 10 to 15 for myself, and we went to a performing arts school," Julianne told Access Hollywood last December. “And they needed a lot of kids, so they got all the stage school kids to come. We were just extras. But we were the only Americans, so they were like, 'Stop talking in the background.'"

She’s also admitted to developing a crush on the movie’s titular star Daniel Radcliffe while working on the film. However, the Dancing With the Stars host didn’t send an owl to convey her admiration.

"I gave him a love note and a Beanie Baby for Valentine’s Day," Julianne told People in 2016. "I didn’t personally give it to him because I was just an extra, but I gave it to his assistant or PA that was working with him. I don’t know if he ever got it, but Daniel, I just want to know if you got it!"

And while it didn’t work out for the pair—Julianne recently shared she’s single following her 2020 split from ex-husband Brooks Laich and Daniel has been in a long-term relationship with Erin Darke—there are some celebrity crushes that turned into something more.

No need to wave a magic wand to find out who, just scroll on.

Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox

Nowadays Machine Gun Kelly gets to go home with Megan Fox. But more than a decade ago, he had a poster of her on his bedroom wall.

In an interview with former Cleveland high school classmate Wesley Lowery for GQ, the author noted MGK's early love for Fox, known then as the bombshell from the Transformers films. "At least one classmate," Lowery wrote, "recalls him vowing he'd marry her one day."

As MGK quipped, "So that's some full-circle s--t."

While the actress and the musician haven't tied the knot, they have announced another major milestone: In November 2024, they shared they're expecting a baby.

Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber

Hailey Bieber may just be the first Belieber.

The model was just 12 when she met then-14-year-old Justin Bieber, with her dad Stephen Baldwin introducing the two as the pop star headed to a Today appearance. Oh yes, it was caught on camera in all its awkward pre-teen glory and you can see Hailey is clearly uncomfortable as she shook Justin's hand. A meet-cute for the ages? Maybe.

Later, the duo posed for a photo on the red carpet at the premiere of his biopic Never Say Never...with her father. Yes, that's right: Hailey was totally a fangirl.

From that point on, the Rhode skincare mogul and the singer maintained a friendship before dating on and off for several years and then jumping right into tying the knot in September 2018. They said "I do" a second time the following year and welcomed baby Jack Blues Bieber in August 2024.

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner

Clearly, Joe Jonas was House Stark.

Like many Game of Thrones viewers, the singer was a fan of Sansa—so much so that he eventually slid into Sophie Turner's DMs in 2016.

"We had a lot of mutual friends, and they'd been trying to introduce us for a long time," Turner revealed to Harper's Bazaar U.K. in 2019. "We were following each other on Instagram and he direct-messaged me one fine day, out of the blue."

And when the HBO hit wrapped its eight-season run, Jonas thanked the series for " introducing me to the incredible @sophiet...long live the QUEEN OF THE MF NORTH."

Alas, winter arrived. In Sept. 2023, after four years of marriage, the parents of two announced their divorce, which was finalized the following year after a public custody battle over their daughters Willa and Delphine.

Olivia Munn and John Mulaney

Six years before they were spotted together, Olivia Munn revealed in an interview that she was a big fan of John Mulaney.

"We were at a wedding together and I was like, 'Oh my gosh, do you and your fiancée want to go have dinner or something and go hang out?" the actress recalled to HuffPost Live in 2015 about meeting the comedian, who was previously married to Anna Marie Tendler. "At first it was cool, and then I kept going up to him at the wedding, like, 'So you having fun?'"

She continued, "I was just so obsessed with hanging out with and talking with him." Munn then said she emailed Mulaney afterward but never heard back, joking, "I might've got the wrong email...that's what I tell myself."

Eventually, she got a message back—and more. In 2021, she gave birth to their son Malcolm. However, Munn noted she and Mulaney were just getting to know each other when she found out she was pregnant.

“It wasn’t anything close to 'dating.' I barely knew him," The X-Men: Apocalypse star told GQ in November 2024 before describing how they originally planned to just co-parent. "It wasn’t necessarily 'We're going to be married and live together' or any of that, but it was 'I will be involved in some way.'"

Ultimately, their bond grew. Mulaney was there for Munn after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023. They wed in July 2024 and welcomed daughter Méi via surrogate in September of that year.

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise

Well before TomKat became a pop culture sensation, Katie Holmes was a big fan of the Top Gun star.

In October 2004, the Dawson's Creek star gushed to Seventeen magazine, "I think every little girl dreams about her wedding. I used to think I was going to marry Tom Cruise."

Holmes' former costar Mary Beth Peil also weighed in on the star's massive crush on Cruise, telling The Daily Beast in 2018, "She said, 'I have had a crush on him since I was 15, and his posters were on the walls of my bedroom.' She could not stop talking about Tom Cruise. This was way before they got together, but she was certainly ready for him."

Holmes fulfilled her childhood fantasy in November 2006, marrying Cruise in a lavish Italian ceremony seven months after welcoming their daughter Suri Cruise. The couple ultimately divorced in 2012.

Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams

No rose needed!

When Wells Adams was one of the men vying for JoJo Fletcher's heart on  The Bachelorette, Sarah Hyland made it clear that she thought he was attractive, tweeting, "Ugh! @WellsAdams making a Lord of the Flies reference on men tell all??? #knewhewasthebestfromthestart #menwhoreadarehot."

The Modern Family actress once again proved she was a fan of the reality star when she learned he would be joining Bachelor in Paradise."OH MY GOD @WellsAdams IS THE FRIKKIN BARTENDER?!" she tweeted in 2017. "Best. Season. Ever."

That's when the back-and-forth between the pair began, with Adams responding, "Taking applications for #BIP5 bar backs now. Please send references..Preferably from Phil Dunphy. I'm kidding the job is yours @Sarah_Hyland."

Their journey continued with the couple making their romance Instagram official later that year and tying the knot in 2022.

Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez

Twenty-one years before they began dating in 2017 (and well before they officially broke up in 2021), the former Yankees player revealed J.Lo was his "dream date," with the third baseman telling an interviewer, "Hopefully you can find me a date with her."

A-Rod reposted the clip to his Instagram feed in 2019, captioning the moment, "I just had a feeling," along with the crying/laughter emoji. Lopez responded by adding three black hearts and writing, "OMG…I love this too much."

Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet

Jason Momoa had considered Lisa Bonet the moon of his life for years before they got together.

In a 2019 interview with Esquire, the Game of Thrones revealed that his then-wife was "literally my childhood crush." Of their relationship, Momoa added, "If someone says something isn't possible... I'm like, 'Listen here, I married Lisa Bonet. Anything is f--king possible.'"

Together for a decade before marrying in 2017, the Aquaman star and The Cosby Show alum ultimately announced their split in 2022. They share two kids together, Lola and Nakoa-Wolf, and Bonet is mom to daughter Zoë Kravitz from her previous marriage to Lenny Kravitz.
