EXCLUSIVE: Ahead of its premiere at SXSW, Visit Films has acquired worldwide sales rights to Perfect by director Millicent Hailes.
Debuting in the Visions section, Perfect “follows Kai, who, in a world devastated by a contaminated water supply, is living out of her car after a painful breakup, when she discovers a hidden lake where the water is pure and a small group of outsiders have built a fragile utopia. There she meets Mallory, a wealthy and mysterious pregnant woman escaping her past. Drawn together despite their differences, the two begin a passionate romance, but as their connection deepens, Kai uncovers the secrets behind Mallory’s carefully constructed life.” Above is a first teaser.
The film stars Julia Fox (Uncut Gems), Ashley Moore (I Know What You Did Last Summer), Micaela Wittman (Shirley), Lío Mehiel (After the Hunt), Ryder McLaughlin (North Hollywood), Kate Moennig (The ‘L’ Word), and Creed Bratton (The Office).
The film is produced by Tara Sheree (Jackrabbit), Nathan Scherrer (Jackrabbit), Tyler Payne (Toast), Douglas Riggs (A Mosquito in the Ear), and Liz Cardenas (A Ghost Story).
Hailes studied fashion in London, has a degree in photography, and founded yves.2c, a magazine platform for women and underrepresented genders.
