From Kagurabachi to Season 2 of Black Clover, Anime Expo 2026 has brought with it many exciting updates, particularly for battle shonen fans. Naturally, many were also hoping for an update on MAPPA's most popular battle shonen, Jujutsu Kaisen, which quite literally left fans right in the middle of an epic battle royale with the end of Season 3.
Even though it seemed like nothing could possibly top the Shibuya Arc, Jujutsu Kaisen's Culling Game has been a huge hit, and the series has everyone waiting for Part 2. Unfortunately, much like Demon Slayer, it seems like Jujutsu Kaisen wasn't invited to the party, as Anime Expo 2026 has not come with the Season 4 update fans were hoping for.
Anime Expo 2026 Leaves Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 High and Dry
Despite the high hopes and excitement, Jujutsu Kaisen's panel at Anime Expo 2026 has disappointingly not yielded any new updates on Season 4. This includes any news on a potential release window for Season 4, which was perhaps the most important update that fans were looking forward to. Far from a release date, Jujutsu Kaisen also did not share any new glimpses of Season 4 at Anime Expo, be it visuals, posters, or a new teaser for that matter.
The last update on Season 4 of Jujutsu Kaisen came back in the middle of June for MAPPA's 15th anniversary in the form of the first full-length trailer for the upcoming season. The trailer stated Season 4 is "diligently in production," but it seems like it will be a while until the series can commit to a release window.

That said, Screen Rant was in attendance at Anime Expo 2026, and Junya Enoki, the Japanese voice of Yuji, did provide somewhat of a reassuring update during the panel, stating that Season 4 of Jujutsu Kaisen will be only a "little bit of a wait."
Jujutsu Kaisen's Anime Could Get A Major Update Soon

Jujutsu Kaisen will be celebrating its fifth anniversary with a special event at the K-Arena Yokohama in Japan on August 29 and 30, 2026. Dubbed the Juju Fes 2026, this anniversary event, which is less than two months away, could bring more substantial updates on Season 4 of Jujutsu Kaisen, in addition to other exciting news related to the franchise.

If anything, there is at least the consolation that the production of Season 4 is progressing smoothly. Season 4 was announced almost immediately after the finale of Season 3 aired, and within only three months of the announcement, the series also unveiled its first proper trailer for Season 4. As such, a release date announcement likely isn't too far off, and it's already quite clear that Season 4 of Jujutsu Kaisen will be well worth the wait.
