Following the season 2 finale, it was announced that Jujutsu Kaisen officially had a third season in production, which is set to adapt the Culling Game arc of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga. 2023 was definitely a great year for Jujutsu Kaisen, and it’s already being set up for a repeat of that success sometime in the future.
2023 saw the premiere of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2, and with its amazing direction and story material, it ended up being even better than season 1. Add in all the incredible developments that happened in the manga as it progressed through its final arc, and 2023 was easily the biggest year for Jujutsu Kaisen yet. At the moment, information on Jujutsu Kaisen season 3’s production is very sparse, but there’s still plenty of information worth discussing, whether it’s based on what was done in the previous two seasons or anything that takes the material of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga into account.
The Latest Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 News
Everything We Know About Season 3
At the time of writing, the most relevant news about Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 is that it’s currently in production. Season 3 was confirmed immediately after the season 2 finale, revealing that it would adapt the Culling Game, following the progression of the manga's story. Additionally, Jujutsu Kaisen had a special panel at Jump Festa 2025, which shared a few updates about the franchise. Despite not disclosing any release window, the Culling Game Arc revealed its first promotional art and confirmed that the final volume of Jujutsu Kaisen includes a 16-page epilogue featuring Nobara, Uraume, Panda, and Ozawa.
Once season 3 is further along in production, however, more information is bound to come out as its eventual release date approaches, and that information will be released accordingly. While fans anxiously await MAPPA's adaptation of the Culling Game arc, the franchise announced that it hopes to make the wait a little more bearable with a new Jujutsu Kaisen movie. However, there will be a compilation of the incredible Hidden Inventory Arc re-edited for a theatrical release, so fans will be able to see the young Gojo and Geto's incredible battles against Toji on the big screen.

One of Jujutsu Kaisen's most essential arcs is getting a compilation film, and the timing couldn't be better for bringing Gojo and Geto back together.
In Jump Festa 2025, a key visual for the upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen compilation film was unveiled, confirming its release date for May 30, 2025, in Japan. More details have yet to come out, but hopefully, if the movie is commercially successful in Japan, it could aim for an international debut like the film Attack on Titan: The Last Attack. Also, the Hidden Inventory film could follow the example of Demon Slayer's recent theatrical releases that end with new content for fans to enjoy.
When Can Fans Expect Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3?
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3’s Most Likely Release Window
As previously stated, there is no confirmed release date for Jujutsu Kaisen season 3, and that has yet to change, more than a year since season 2's conclusion. Studio MAPPA currently has a lot of TV show projects in development. It's developing Lazarus and the original anime series Zenshu, the second season of the underappreciated Hell's Paradise anime, the film Rose of Versailles and the second season of the isekai anime Campfire Cooking In Another World. That is a lot for any anime studio to handle, but that isn't everything it's currently working on.
The production team behind JJK's anime is also working on a few films, undoubtedly taking up much of the team's time and effort. Some include the film adaptation of Chainsaw Man's Reze arc set to continue the series where season 1 left off. Plus, there is the upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen Hidden Inventory movie, but since it will be re-editing already completed season 2 episodes, it likely won't set other anticipated projects back. Those projects and others are likely to take priority over season 3, so fans shouldn't expect it anytime soon.
As for when Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 can be expected, that's easy enough to speculate. There was a two-year gap between Jujutsu Kaisen season 1 and Jujutsu Kaisen season 2, so assuming a similar production cycle is in place, Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 can be expected to premiere in late 2025 or early 2026. That's another long wait for the anime to return, and the manga ended in September 2024, but the quality of season 3 will be worth the wait.
Who Will Be Producing Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3?
Who Might Be In Charge of Season 3
Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 is confirmed to be another Studio MAPPA production, despite the controversies surrounding Jujutsu Kaisen season 2. Still, considering all the staff changes that happened between season 1 and season 2, there’s no guarantee that Shota Goshozono, Sayaka Koiso, and Yoshimasa Terui will return for Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 to provide direction, character design, and composition, respectively.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3’s Story Details Explained
The Culling Games Arc
As the subtitle for Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 implies, it will be an adaptation of the Culling Game arc of the manga. Following the Shibuya Incident, Kenjaku, the true identity of the sorcerer who stole Geto’s body, engineers a nationwide fight to the death between sorcerers, designed to elevate the collective cursed energy of Japan to the point that its population can be fused into a massive cursed spirit. The Culling Game arc introduced a bevy of characters and story developments that added a lot to Jujutsu Kaisen as it entered its final stretch, and it will be great to see all that play out in animation, as well.
As for how much of the Culling Game arc will be adapted, that’s also easy to estimate. The first two seasons each adapted roughly eight to nine volumes of the manga, so with Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 ending at volume #16, season 3 will likely go up to volume #25 of the manga and the return of Satoru Gojo. In addition to being consistent with the pacing, ending season 3 there would be a perfect cliffhanger to get people excited for an inevitable fourth season.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Trailer
Season 3’s First Teaser Trailer
Following the season 2 finale, a short trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 was released to announce its development. The Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 trailer didn’t show much, only having a few lines explaining the basic premise of the Culling Game arc being voiced with some of the manga art animated, but once production is further along, there will undoubtedly be a more extensive trailer for people to watch.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Poster
The Poster Drops a Clue to Predict the Length of the New Season
The highly anticipated Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 released a stunning poster focused on Yuji Itadori, with his sad expression alongside the poster’s tagline, “I can’t be with you guys anymore,” confirming that he is still dealing with the mental toll caused by events of the Shibuya Incident and hinting at him feeling unworthy of keeping being a sorcerer after what Sukuna did.
While this key visual doesn’t reveal much about the upcoming plot, it adapts Yuji’s iconic panel in JJK’s chapter #138, which is the first chapter to be covered in the new season. However, the red hand and the darkened and partly hidden pinky finger on the poster hint at a pivotal event that takes place in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter #212, which is a subtle confirmation of season 3 adapting the extent of the Culling Game arc, which is the longest of the series, running from chapter 159 to 221 of the manga.

Where To Watch Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3
The Best Place for Jujutsu Kaisen
