Anne Hathaway Reveals the Sweet Note She Got From "Magical" Taylor Swift
Don’t blame Josh Hutcherson for his honesty.
While he stands by the admission he made to I Love LA costar Jordan Firstman, he wants Taylor Swift’s fans to know he didn’t mean anything by it.
“I got some heat because I did a photo shoot with Jordan, and Jordan asked me something about being a [Taylor Swift fan], and I was like, ‘Oh no, I’m definitely not a Swiftie,’” Josh recounted to GQ in an interview published April 20. “All of a sudden, it garnered this, ‘F--k him! He’s a monster! Destroy him! He’s short! He hates her because he’s short!’"
Because, no, the Hunger Games alum doesn’t hate Taylor because she’s taller than he is. In fact, he doesn’t hate her at all—he just prefers other artists.
“It’s just like, whoa! I think she’s great,” he said. “Her music is not my kind of music.”
As for the swift backlash his innocuous comment received, Josh added, “That is why I don’t want to be online.”
The Zathura star’s troubles began when he and Jordan were doing a camera roll roulette game during an interview with i-D magazine in December. For one of the prompts, Josh pulled up a photo of him and his mom at one of Taylor’s Eras Tour concerts.
When Jordan asked if Josh was a Swiftie, he replied, “Very much not. No shade, all respect, but definitely not.”

But soon enough, Taylor’s dedicated fans found the video and shared their displeasure with Josh, some calling him out for accepting VIP tickets to the Eras Tour if he wasn’t really a fan.
The possibility for backlash, as he explained to GQ, is one of the many reasons the 33-year-old prefers to live his life away from the internet and social media. That, and he thinks being so accessible to the public through an online presence actually detracts from his job as an actor.
And indeed, other than the press tour for I Love LA, Josh has preferred to exist largely outside of the spotlight.
“I don’t need that energy,” he explained. “It’s counterintuitive to my job, because if people know you more, you can’t disappear into characters. They see you as, ‘Oh, that’s Josh.’ You know what I mean? So, if you’re a f--king meme, people know you for the meme.”
As for Taylor and the Eras Tour, Josh was just one of countless celebrities—Swifties or not—that scored one of the coveted tickets. Read on for an enchanting look back at the Eras Tour.
