John Wick Single-Player Game Officially Announced For PlayStation 5

The last game you probably expected to see at this week's PlayStation State of Play just got announced, and it's an official single-player John Wick action game with serious Hitman or Sifu vibes.

It turns out that Lionsgate and Saber Interactive are officially bringing back Keanu Reeves in his official return as John Wick in a brand-new upcoming project for PlayStation 5 (via PS). Currently, the game doesn't even have an official title, but it will apparently "take place during a specific period within the John Wick timeline and contributes to the expansive and rich lore of the franchise."

John Wick Officially Returning In New PS5 Exclusive

John Wick fans are having a field day today after the exciting reveal of an upcoming single-player PlayStation 5 exclusive set along the same timeline as the films and expanding the existing story and lore of the universe. It's an untitled project from Saber Interactive, who are "working closely with [John Wick director] Chad Stahelski, Keanu Reeves, and Lionsgate to produce a highly anticipated, adrenaline-fueled experience."

The story will be completely original and "addresses a significant time in John Wick’s life, featuring well-known and iconic characters, as well as compelling new characters" and will feature combat with the "extremely distinctive gun-fu action and intense driving experiences" you'd expect from the franchise.

While we didn't have a new John Wick game on our 2026 bingo card, and it was damn near impossible to predict, it's an exciting announcement that fans will definitely want to keep track of as development continues.

This One Wasn't On Our Radar

Details regarding the John Wick video game are sparse at the moment, and a specific release window has not yet been announced. However, gameplay footage looks incredibly promising and will undoubtedly be satisfying for fans of the iconic character. We do know that it will be a PS5 exclusive and that the team are attempting to create "a wholly immersive experience unlike any other in video games."

What that means isn't exactly clear, but Saber are promising "something that blurs the line between movies and video games." Further, they say they're "creating new, high-stakes, fully interactive mechanics that make players feel like they are in a John Wick movie." Combat will "feel like an authentic John Wick action scene taken straight from the films."

According to developers, "everything is designed to faithfully mimic the movie experience in a meaningful, fully playable way," and they are "developing a distinct combat system from the ground up to ensure" that is what players get. Fans will definitely want to keep their eyes peeled for updates on this exciting new John Wick chapter.
