John Torode and Lisa Faulkner have splashed out on a new house in North London with a kitchen grand enough to film for their YouTube channel.

The pair were struggling to fit their camera crew inside their £1.8million Muswell Hill property to film so sold up and upsized nearby.

A source close to the chefs told the Daily Mail that their previous kitchen was a ‘galley’ shape which meant it was a squeeze to get all the necessary people in.

‘John and Lisa’s YouTube show has taken off and they decided that they needed a bigger space to film it,’ said a friend.

‘It was too narrow and not big enough so they had to move. Their shows have really taken off so it’s a great investment for them and now they have the perfect kitchen to take their YouTube project to the next level.’

The friend added that fans will get to see it within days as John, 61, and Lisa, 54, launch it on the social media platform.

Their YouTube show, titled John and Lisa's Kitchen and Home, has accumulated 1.8million views and 26,400 subscribers on the video platform.

They launched it in December last year, releasing new videos weekly where they aim to create everyday meals and family-friendly recipes.

The Daily Mail first revealed the couple, who married in 2019 having met nine years previous on Celebrity MasterChef, knocked £105,000 off the asking price to secure the sale.

Despite this, the pair are still set to make almost £600,000, having bought the property in 2015 for £1.2million.

The five-bedroom house had been transformed by John and Lisa, while they maintained its original Edwardian features.

Lisa, who revealed earlier this year she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, previously said she used her tranquil garden to help recover from the disease, following an operation.

She previously told The Times: 'I've been in a bubble with my family and friends, sitting in the garden with Johno, doing word searches and puzzles.

'In every situation that has happened [to us] there have been dark days, but the light has been quite amazing. And if you keep searching for the light, I think that's what you take from it.

'I said to Johno recently, “All I want to do is cook with you in our kitchen for YouTube, and act, and if that is my life, I'll be so happy”.

John exited MasterChef last year, when an allegation was upheld by the BBC that he said a racist word while singing to Kanye West’s song Gold Digger at the show’s 2019 wrap party.

While he insisted he could not remember the incident, his contract on the cooking show was not renewed, bringing an end to his 20-year stint as host.

He had presented alongside Gregg Wallace, who was also ousted from his role over allegations of unacceptable behaviour on set, which he denies.
