EXCLUSIVE: John Kim has joined Hunter Page-Lochard and Kate Stewart in Australian TV drama Fortitude Valley.
The Cruel Intentions actor, who is set to star in 2027 pic Voltron, will play Gavin Chang, a Detective Senior Constable seconded to an operation to solve two cold-case murders.
Kim is known for main roles in TNT series The Librarians, Prime Video’s Cruel Intentions reboot and Apple TV series WondLa. He is appearing in Rawson Marshall Thurber animated film Voltron and Hong Won-ki’s K-pop thriller Perfect Girl, as we revealed last year.
Fortitude Valley, from Moving Floor Entertainment, is a crime series set in the center of Brisbane, Australia. The suspense thriller is, per a synopsis, “set in the sunshine and shadow of Queensland’s capital, exploring family secrets, the corrupting force of power and the complicated truths behind the lies we tell.”
Page-Lochard (Reckless, The Newsreader) and Stewart (Offspring, Black Snow) are starring, with filming and post-production taking place entirely in Queensland, starting next month. As such, the show has support from Screen Queensland’s Screen Finance Fund and Post, Digital and Visual Effects Incentive.
The series will launch on ABC TV and ABC iView in 2027.
ABC’s Head of Scripted, Rachel Okine, said the broadcaster was “delighted to be back in Brisbane and partnering with such a stellar creative team to bring Fortitude Valley to the ABC.”
Kim is represented by Echo Lake Entertainment, Buchwald and CBM.
