The Rainmaker prepares for his next case.
Based on the John Grisham novel, and coming after the Francis Ford Coppola film of the same name, USA Network's The Rainmaker was a quick hit on both cable and streaming when it premiered in August 2025. The legal drama's debut installment introduces viewers to Rudy Baylor, played by Milo Callaghan. Fresh out of law school, Rudy faces off against an absolute courtroom titan.
Returning to audiences after becoming USA Network’s most-watched freshman series in seven years and finishing the year as the #1 highest-rated new scripted TV series across all of cable, The Rainmaker season 2 will debut on October 16 on USA Network.
Rainmaker season 2 picks up with Rudy, still an underdog lawyer who fights against powerful interests. He's joined once more by his boss, Jocelyn 'Bruiser' Stone (Lana Parrilla), and the paralegal Deck Shifflet (P.J. Byrne). But this time, the trio will face “old adversaries and new ones”, according to the official synopsis.
The case especially involves the lives of children, except that winning may be as perilous as losing. There's also another case where Rudy will face off against his law school ex Sarah Plankmore (Madison Iseman). Their second showdown happens at the request of Sarah's mysterious new boss, Amanda Vonn (Merle Dandridge), a powerful attorney who may be hiding an international conspiracy.
In another personal final case, Bruiser's ex-husband Tom Cassady (Austin Nichols) comes to her for help on a case that threatenes his life, as well as the life of a star pitcher on a minor baseball team that he coaches. to her for help as his legal troubles threaten his life and that of the star pitcher of the minor league baseball team he coaches.
Liam O’Halloran, Asher De Land, Libby Kay, Kevin Ryan, and Tim Murphy also star, with Karen Bryson returning and Mad Men's John Slattery reprising his role.
