There’s a new addition to the Biden Family tree.
Two months after sharing her pregnancy, Naomi Biden—the eldest granddaughter of current United States President Joe Biden—gave birth to her and husband Peter Neal’s first baby, a little boy, on Jan. 8.
At the President's press conference regarding the devastating wildfires raging throughout Southern California, he told reporters that he is “a great-grandfather as of today.”
Biden went on to say his great granddaughter gave birth to a “10 pound, four-ounce baby girl” before correcting himself to confirm she had a “baby boy.”
In a post to Instagram, First Lady Jill Biden shared an adorable photo of her and the president holding the newborn, revealing the baby’s name in the caption, writing, “We are proud to introduce you to our great-grandson: William Brannon Neal, IV.”
The newborn’s name is in honor of Peter brother, Willie Neal, who tragically died at the age of 19 in a fatal car accident 15 years ago in Maine, according to an obituary.
The 82-year-old’s announcement comes after he confirmed he and his wife were set to be great-grandparents imminently, telling USA Today, “I'm about to be a great-grandfather, Jesus God,” adding that Naomi was “due to have a cesarean on the 8th of January.”

In November 2024, Naomi announced her pregnancy after casting her ballot in the 2024 U.S. presidential election—which saw republican President-Elect Donald Trump and Vice President-Elect JD Vance taking victory over democratic nominee Kamala Harris and running mate Tim Waltz.
In a photo shared to her Instagram Story, the 31-year-old daughter of Hunter Biden and ex-wife Kathleen Buhle showed off her baby bump in a mirror selfie, downing an all-black jumpsuit and matching poncho, paired with a silver necklace and her “I Voted” sticker.
Taking her soon-to-be-born baby into account, Naomi cleverly captioned the post “(We) voted.”
The arrival of the newest member of the Biden family comes more than two years after Naomi and Peter tied the knot in a private ceremony on the White House’s South Lawn back in November 2022.
But it was no surprise that the 46th president hosted the nuptials as Naomi has previously revealed how her grandfather—who is also dad to the late Beau Biden and daughter Ashley Biden—always has his family at the forefront of his mind.
“He’s made sure that every single tradition, every holiday, we’re all together,” the attorney told Today in 2021. “I don’t think there’s been any decision, no matter how big or small, that we haven’t decided as a family.”
