Pregnant Holly Kingston has been enjoying a holiday in Italy with husband Jimmy Nicholson.

And the Bachelor stars divided fans on Sunday, when they revealed that they had broken a cardinal rule of Italian dining.

The pair were indulging in a pasta meal at an outdoor eatery, and sneakily added an ingredient to their food.

In a video shared to Instagram, Holly pulled a packet of cheese out of her purse and poured it all over her pasta.

'When you disagree with one of the fundamental Italian rules,' Jimmy wrote in the caption, adding, 'Sorry, it's just better'.

The pair divided their fans, with many commenting that they'd do the same - but others didn't feel the same.

'How to ruin a meal in 10 seconds,' wrote one person in the comments, while another said, 'WTF so much parmesan'.

'Well really cheese isn't meant to go on seafood pasta,' said someone else.

Others were all for it, with one fan saying they'd tried it too, writing, 'Love this I've done this before too'.

Another agreed, 'As an Aussie I find this hysterical and totally get it. We didn't have the real thing and now we are addicted to the fake stuff'.

One more said: 'I'm Italian and I always put parmesan on my seafood pasta! Your way! Love it!'

It comes after Holly hit back at trolls who have been criticising her diet while she travels around Italy.

The former star of The Bachelor has been sharing her delicious meals while she plays tourist in Rome, but not everyone has appreciated her selections.

In a post to Instagram Stories, the 30-year-old lashed out after receiving 'thousands' of messages about what she's been eating

'I'm going to clarify this really quickly for anyone following our travels at the moment because my DMs are a little overwhelming. PLEASE DON'T COMMENT ON WHAT I SHOULD AND SHOULDN'T BE EATING, I'VE GOT THIS,' she wrote.

'I have a wonderful OB advising me and I also have an incredible tool called Google -saves you the time messaging and saves me the bombardment,' she continued.

'If you've been pregnant and had people give you unsolicited advice you'll know how damn stressful and uncomfortable it can be. Imagine that plus thousands of people you've never met insinuating you're ignorant or failing, it's not fun.'

Holly concluded: 'Even if these DM's are meant with love, when you receive hundreds of these a day, it becomes a dark place for me.

'Now, off I go to eat some beef carpaccio with a big jug of unpasteurised milk!!'

The former reality star is expecting her first baby with her hunky hubby, 31.

In July, Holly was rushed to hospital after 'complications' arose with her pregnancy.

Despite mentioning there were some 'warning signs' the lovebirds needed to get checked out, the marketing manager assured fans that baby was 'healthy'.

Holly's first post to her Stories was a video which showed her laying back in a hospital bed wearing a hospital gown.

She captioned the short clip: 'So the last few days have been a whirlwind and to be honest, pretty damn crappy.

She recently shared one of her 'pregnancy cravings' while on the trip

'Firstly and most importantly, baby is healthy and thriving,' she finished before sharing a photo of her and Jimmy cuddled up in the hospital bed.

'I have spent the last few days in emergency following a few complications which certainly reiterated that growing a baby is tough work on your body,' she wrote.

Holly went on to warn her followers to 'pay attention to any warning signs' with their body during a pregnancy, and gushed over the support she's received from Jimmy.

'Times like these I realise my husband has certainly been trained to deal with stressful situations like an absolute pro,' she continued.

'He's created makeshift spew bags within milliseconds, delivered me nuggets on demand and made me laugh when one would think there's not much to laugh about.

'Happy to be home with a healthy bub and on the mend.'
