Jennifer Garner enjoys family outing with kids Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12, amid Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez divorce

Jennifer Garner looked cheerful on Sunday as she stepped out in Brentwood with two of her children, whom she shares with ex-husband Ben Affleck. 

The 52-year-old Alias star— who recently saw off the exes' eldest, Violet, 18, as she headed to college — was accompanied by the former couple's younger children, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12. 

Dressed in a chic floral sundress, the star flashed her megawatt smile as she carried a potted plant alongside her adorable kids. 

Fin rocked a graphic T-shirt and cargo shorts, while Samuel pulled up the rear in a bright blue shirt and faded jeans. 

The family outing comes a day after the Dallas Buyers Club alum, who split with Affleck in 2018, enjoyed a romantic dinner date with her boyfriend John Miller.

Miller, 46, is an attorney and is currently serving as the CEO of CaliBurger and its parent company CaliGroup.

The couple was spotted sharing a laugh as they left a restaurant together in Brentwood. 

It's been reported Garner offered her friendship to Affleck, 52, in the lead up to his divorce from Jennifer Lopez, 55, after two years of marriage.

However, Garner attempt to help Ben caused a 'divide' in her own relationship with Miller, with a source telling DailyMail.com earlier this week that they are now working towards being in a 'better place.'

'John doesn't like sharing Jen and there is a divide when it comes to her and Ben,' the insider expressed, adding that Miller had concerns with how much time the 13 Going On 30 actress put into the Ben and Lopez split. 

'He wishes it wasn't like that because he understands they are a family, but it gets to him like it would anyone.' 

'John doesn't have any fears that they are getting back together – but it has been tough coping with her support for Ben during his split from JLo,' the source continued.

In the wake of the divorce news, the insider said of Garner and Miller's relationship: 'Bumpy roads recently are looking to be smoothed out.'

'Both Jen and John are hoping for that. It is just going to take a little time. They both want to be in a better place, but some work needs to be done.' 

The actress and Miller 'haven't split' and expressed that their 'friends feel that they will be together for a long time. They are very private.'

Since their split in 2018, both Garner and Affleck have worked to have a good co-parenting relationship for the sake of their children.

'His kids are taking it fine as are [Lopez's]. Everybody is ready to move on', a source told Page Six. Lopez shares her twins Emme and Max, 16, with her ex-husband Marc Anthony. 

The news comes amid reports Ben's 'mood swings' were reportedly part of the reason he and Lopez split.

The Golden Globe winner — who 'has a darkness to him' — drove a wedge in his relationship with the Let's Get Loud singer with his uncontrollable 'highs' and 'lows', a source close to the ex couple claimed to PEOPLE on Saturday.

He and the New York native filed for divorce on August 20, which also happened to be their second wedding anniversary.

'The truth is there was a great deal of love but also unfortunately what became clear were Ben's erratic mood swings that he couldn't hide from the press, as much as he tried to,' the insider dished.

'You could see the erratic behavior, the giant mood swings,' the source added, explaining that he can go from 'being incredibly happy and warm — the best light that emanated from him' to exposing 'his deepest, darkest behavior.'

They alleged that the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice actor tried to hide his unbalanced behavior from the public. 

The insider added, 'I think he was signaling a message to the press. But yet participating.'

Making the decision to go their separate ways again wasn't easy because the two still have lingering feelings for each other.

'They were trying to work through it, but when the mood swings and the big highs and big lows informed a toxicity that was pervasive, no one can help you — you have to help yourself,' the source added.

'But I would not be so bold to say there isn't love — of course there is,' the source admitted. 'The world was rooting for them, but who he said he was and who he turned out to be were two different people.'

Ben and Jen first started dating in 2002 after playing lovers on set of Gigli (2003) and quickly got engaged.

But they split up in 2004, just before they were set to become husband and wife.

They both went on to wed other people - she exchanged vows with Marc Anthony in 2004, while he walked down the aisle with Jennifer Garner in 2005 – but after splitting from their respective partners, they eventually found their way back to each other.

They rekindled their romance in 2021 and finally said 'I do' in Las Vegas July of 2022.

Meanwhile, Garner has several projects listed as being in pre-production on IMDB.com, including the crime series Can't Go Home.

She stars as fugitive recovery agent KD Williams, who, along with her partner, played by Tom Mariano, finds herself in too deep with the criminal gangs of Boston.
