Jay-Z Issues Statement After Being Accused of Raping 13-Year-Old Girl With Sean “Diddy” Combs
Jay-Z knows a challenging conversation is forthcoming.
After the 55-year-old was accused in a civil suit of raping a 13-year-old girl alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs, he vehemently denied the allegation in a statement which also included an acknowledgement of how he and his wife Beyoncéwould have to handle the situation with their children, including 12-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter and 7-year-old twins Rumi Carter and Sir Carter.
“My only heartbreak is for my family,” Jay-Z—whose real name is Shawn Carter—shared in a statement with E! News. “My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people.”
He continued, “I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at their young age. It is unfair to have to try to understand inexplicable degrees of malice meant to destroy families and human spirit.”
The Grammy winner’s statement comes after an accuser identified as “Jane Doe” refiled a civil suit in which she listed Jay-Z as the previously unnamed individual she claims raped her when she was 13 alongside Combs at a house party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards in New York.
In his denial, Jay-Z addressed the lawyer who filed the allegations, Tony Buzbee, who has also filed a significant number of similar lawsuits against Combs.

"These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!!" Jay-Z added in his statement. "Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case."
The music mogul also accused Buzbee of sending him a “demand letter” prior to litigation, which Buzbee has since said in a statement to E! News did not include a demand for any money but rather only sough a confidential mediation.
Jay-Z added, “You have made a terrible error in judgement thinking that all ‘celebrities’ are the same. I’m a young man who made it out of the project of Brooklyn. We don’t play these types of games. We have very strict codes and honor.”
“We protect children,” he said in his conclusion. “I look forward to showing you just how different I am.”

For Buzbee’s part, in his statement to E! News regarding Jay-Z’s scathing response, the attorney added, “As far as the allegations in the complaint filed, we will let the filing speak for itself and will litigate the facts in court, not in the media.”
The refiled claim against Combs is just one of several sexual abuse civil suitsfiled against the rapper over the last several months as he awaits trial in jail on federal sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges, for which he has pleaded not guilty. He has similarly denied any wrongdoing in the sexual abuse cases brought against him.
"Mr. Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts, their legal defenses, and the integrity of the judicial process," his lawyers told E! News in October. "In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone—adult or minor, man or woman."
