Jason Sudeikis Shares the Parenting Lesson He Borrowed From Ted Lasso

Jason Sudeikis is scoring some major points in the parenting game.

After all, the Ted Lasso star revealed that his TV coach alter-ego actually inspired his go-to etiquette rule with kids Otis, 12, and Daisy, 9.

"I try to explain to them the power of please and thank you when you really mean it," Sudeikis told E! News in an exclusive interview. "Not only do you get to be in interesting places, but I think, more importantly, you get invited back. That feels like a Ted Lasso philosophy that we've yet to implement on the show, but you certainly see it a lot."

And Otis and Daisy certainly have a lot to be thankful for.

Earlier this month, the Saturday Night Live alum brought his son and daughter—who he shares with ex Olivia Wilde— to the star-studded FIFA World Cup final game and halftime show in New York where they got to meet Justin Bieber.

"The cousin text chain lit up," Sudeikis joked of the once-in-a-lifetime experience. "So, that's always exciting and fun."

And if Otis wasn't already a Belieber, he is now.

"He was very kind," Sudeikis recounted of the "DAISIES" singer before adding, "My son got to meet Tom Cruise."

Of course, Sudeikis doesn't want all this A-list hobnobbing to go to Otis and Daisy's heads.

"These kiddos," the 50-year-old added, "I'm doing everything I can that they don't turn into little turds. Both me and their mom."

Sudeikis may have his work cut out for him, as he noted one of his family's favorite pastimes is sitting courtside at basketball games together.

"Getting to be around women's sports, specifically the WNBA, my sisters and I and my kids went to a lot of those games," he recounted. "Having season tickets right next to the opposing team's bench, which is fascinating just getting to watch these kick-ass women coming off of three three-pointers in a row or after scoring a 0-12 run and just seeing the humanity and camaraderie amongst them."

Their shared love of sports even helped convince the Emmy winner to make a fourth season of the beloved comedy series. In the new season, Lasso enters uncharted territory when he begins coaching a second division women's team.

"I grew up in a house full of women, so I've seen that in a variety of stages of my life," he said of the new dynamics. "It's something I've always been a big fan of and appreciated, the bawdiness and the cockiness."

Season four of Ted Lasso premieres Aug. 5 on Apple TV. In the meantime, keep reading for a closer look at Sudeikis' sweetest family moments with his kids.
