Jason Statham's somewhat forgotten 2023 spy thriller Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre has become an instant streaming sensation on Prime Video since it was added to the streaming platform in February 2026.
While the star-studded Guy Ritchie film was not much of a box office success, earning roughly $49 million against a $50 million budget, the series is one of many Statham-led thrillers that are worth checking out, especially for fans of spy action thriller movies.

Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre is one of the best movies to watch this weekend on Prime Video, as it continues to take over the streamer's U.S. viewership chart. The 2023 movie, co-written and directed by Guy Ritchie, combines spy thriller, action adventure, and comedy elements to create an immersive and entertaining viewing experience.
While Statham is used to being a one-man army in a variety of his feature films, he is supported by an excellent ensemble in Operation Fortune that includes Aubrey Plaza, Hugh Grant, Josh Hartnett, and Cary Elwes. The film divided critics with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 51% but won over viewers with an 82% RT audience score.

Jason Statham & Guy Ritchie's Spy Thriller Is A Must-Watch This Weekend
Critics were particularly harsh on the Statham and Ritchie spy action comedy, which, on paper, should have been a box office home run. Both Statham and Ritchie produce an impressive number of films in a relatively short time span, and this one seems to have been swept under the rug without the attention it arguably deserved.
In Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, Statham plays an elite spy named Orson who recruits a movie star, played by Hartnett, to assist him in preventing the sale of a dangerous new weapons technology by a billionaire arms broker, played by Grant. The premise is certainly intriguing, backed by a comeback performance by Hartnett and the hilarious comedic force of Plaza.
The newfound success of Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre on Prime Video proves that this movie may have been better off as a straight-to-streaming release. That said, Statham is one of Hollywood's most bankable movie stars, and his films always deserve the chance to be seen on the largest screen possible.
