Jason Statham returns to screens as everyone’s favorite heroic assassin, Adam Clay, when The Beekeeper 2 premieres in 2027. However, before then, now’s the perfect time to revisit his older films from his very first successful movie, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, written and directed by Guy Ritchie, to the action comedy Spy, starring Melissa McCarthy. Popularly known for his tough and gritty demeanor in films, Statham is widely regarded as a leading man in the action genre — a title well-deserved, as his performances have remained consistently sharp over the years.

While many may not get enough of the English actor in his most recognized works, his skills are also evident in his forgotten projects, including an underrated 2013 action gem, which almost became a Rambo sequel. Written by Sylvester Stallone, Homefront is surging on the U.S. streaming charts thirteen years after hitting theaters. The film stars Statham as former DEA agent Phil Broker, who, hoping to escape from his troubled past, moves to a seemingly quiet backwater town in the bayou with his daughter.

For the past few days, Homefront has been ranked among the popular movies on Netflix in the U.S., from being the eighth most-watched title on February 6, 2026, to now being in the third spot after chart-topper The Investigation of Lucy Letby and the 2018 rom-com Overboard. In Homefront, which is based on Chuck Logan’s novel, Statham’s character soon finds anything but quiet in his new neighborhood, for the town is riddled with drugs and violence. When Gator Bodine (James Franco), a sociopathic druglord, puts the newcomer and his young daughter in harm's way, Broker is forced back into action to save her and their home.

'Homefront' Almost Became a ‘Rambo’ Sequel

Early in development, Stallone, who wrote Homefront, originally conceived the script as a sequel to the Rambo films until it was shelved for a decade. Additionally, the action pic was first intended to have the Rambo star in the lead role, but he stayed on as the producer and passed on the role to Statham. "I could never be Rambo, if he was offering me Rambo I’d turn it down," Statham previously shared about the role. "I could not fill those boots. He’s too good at what he does. Although there is a great element of Sly in this, he adapted it for me. It’s impossible to be that guy. He gave a lot of thought to that."

Homefront streams on Netflix U.S. Stay tuned to Collider for more news.
