In the almost six years since Supernatural took its final bow on The CW, the show’s stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki have continued to stay booked and busy. For the former, that meant expanding the lore first put forth by the Eric Kripke-created family-centered drama with a short-lived prequel series titled The Winchesters. Aside from the Supernatural universe, Ackles has stayed busy working on a multitude of titles in front of the camera, including his dip into CBS’ Justin Hartley-led procedural, Tracker, and Prime Video’s one-season-running high-octane series, Countdown. Additionally, he reteamed with Kripke for the creative’s satirical superhero series, The Boys, as the character Soldier Boy, who he’ll soon reprise in the fifth and final season as well as the upcoming prequel, Vought Rising.

Likewise, Padalecki hit the ground running after wrapping things up as Sam Winchester following Supernatural’s historic 15-season run. Cannonballing immediately into a new role, the Gilmore Girls alum donned a cowboy hat and tied on his boots to star in the titular role in The CW’s Walker, which served as a reboot of the beloved Chuck Norris-led Western of yesteryear. After four strong seasons and a spin-off that Padalecki executive-produced, the series received a cancellation around this time last year. Never one to let the momentum slip, Padalecki hit the job search, quickly landing a role opposite Ackles and the pair’s fellow Supernatural alum, Misha Collins, in the upcoming season of The Boys.

Jared Padalecki’s Cinematic Comeback

Aside from his work on the small screen, Padalecki will soon be turning back to feature-length productions for the first time in over a decade since his voice work in the English dub of Phantom Boy, which was preceded by 2009’s Friday the 13th. Finally, Padalecki is on board to come back to live-action features with the upcoming project Guarding Stars, which will also star The Buccaneers' Leighton Meester. Hailing from director Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum from the pages of Katherine Center’s 2022 novel, The Bodyguard, Netflix’s upcoming movie centers around a bodyguard (Padalecki) who’s been given the job of protecting a popular action star (Meester) over the holiday season.

Taking to Instagram to share some good news with fans around the globe, the actor recently shared an image paired with a heartfelt message to celebrate the movie’s official wrap. In his caption, the actor wrote:

“Hey Calgary. Thank you for letting this annoying Texan come and stay in your town for a hot second. Yall are incredible hosts, and I had an incredible time…. Hope that we all did you proud. Hope that we can all make it back soon. #GuardingStars #ThatsAWrap. 🙏❤️ (PS. If I may be so bold, maybe a little less snow next time?… It sure was beautiful, but I sure was freezing my b***s off… 😂🤦🏻❤️)”
