Jamie Oliver's latest career venture sees him step away from the kitchen and try his hand at acting in a new microdrama comedy series.

The TV chef stars alongside his family in Finding Jamie While He's Finding Himself, a new social first comedy series directed by Bafta-nominee Tom Kingsley (Ghosts, Stath Lets Flats).

The series starts with Jamie finding himself ‘lost’ in an existential crisis after fearing he has run out of ways to cook chicken – after coming up with 400 recipes.

It sees him spiral through a series of wellness and spiritual trends-regression hypnosis, a naked woodland cult, floatation tanks – with knowing nods to his 1999 Naked Chef debut and his campaign against Turkey Twizzlers peppered throughout the episodes.

While Jamie heads off on his quest for enlightenment, his wife Jools, 51, and son Buddy, 15, follow his every move on Life360 – a family connection and safety app which the Oliver family have long used.

The series also features comedian Will Hislop as Jamie’s ambitious yet inept Life Coach.

Jamie has taken part in the five-part series to celebrate becoming a brand ambassador.

Episodes – which run from one to three minutes – will be released weekly on Jamie's social media channels.

Jools hinted at the series as she shared a snap of Jamie looking rather frazzled as he stood barefoot outside in his dressing gown.

The chef was seen putting his head in his hand and giving a small, tired smile while standing next to a sign which read: 'no clothes past this point.'

Jools remarked that it wasn't his 'usual' look, while also suggesting he'd hired a life coach.

Captioning the photo, Jools penned: 'Not my usual Jamie… and then a new life coach?.'

The couple marked their 26th wedding anniversary back in June with a slew of sweet throwback snaps, showing sweet moments with Jools.

In the trio of images, Jamie and Jools looked loved-up and fresh-faced, with two images showing them cosied up and one striking snap of Jools on her own.

He added a caption reading: 'Just a little @joolsoliver appreciation post because she has truly been my rock for 26 years !! What would I do without her?'
