Jamie Lee Curtis celebrated a sobriety milestone as she remembered her late costar Richard Lewis with gratitude for supporting her during her battle with addiction.

The 67-year-old actress took to Instagram on Tuesday and wrote a lengthy sentimental message dedicated to her late friend as she marked 27 years of sobriety.

Curtis shared a throwback photo of herself and Lewis at an event as she reflected on how he once 'reached out and took my hand' and helped her along her recovery journey.

Curtis also mourned Lewis as she wrote that she continues to 'miss my friend' and expressed her gratitude for 'his gift to me.'

The Freaky Friday star — who was recently spotted stepping out for the first time while grieving another close friend, the actress Catherine O'Hara — previously starred opposite Lewis in the hit sitcom Anything but Love for four seasons, from 1989 to 1992.

The late stand-up comedian and actor passed away at 76 in February 2024 after suffering from a heart attack at his home in Los Angeles

She and Lewis previously starred as an onscreen couple in the hit sitcom Anything but Love for four seasons, from 1989 to 1992

Curtis previously opened up about how she struggled with an addiction to pain medication — which began after she had eye surgery in 1989 — before she managed to get sober in 1999.

She said that Lewis, 'an old colleague and friend,' introduced her to recovery networks and helped guide her along her journey.

In her post, Curtis wrote: '27 years ago, I had pain and sorrow. I reached out my hand and my old colleague and friend, Richard Lewis, reached out and took my hand.

'The miracle of sobriety is that it just takes one other person to relate to how you're feeling and THAT can change everything,' she continued, before recalling how her friend and costar had helped her during a difficult time.

'Richard introduced me to many others and for these 27 years I have met so many people who share our common link of addiction and recovery from that daily prison,' she added.

'I'm honored to be open with strangers, many who know me better than people I have spent my entire life with, and I try to honor all of their courage and strength, and hope daily and do what Richard did, which is reach my hand out to others in need.'

'I miss my friend but his gift to me IS the gift that keeps on giving,' she concluded her sentimental post.

After learning of his death nearly two years ago, she penned an emotional tribute, in which she said he was the 'reason I am sober.'

When she learned of Lewis's death in 2024, she penned a heartbreaking tribute. After working together for four years and a decades-spanning friendship, she said she was thankful for his support and was 'forever grateful for him for that act of grace alone'; pictured in 1989

To her onscreen partner, she had written in her post: 'Strange way of saying thank you to a sweet and funny man. Rest in laughter, Richard. My Marty, I love you, Hannah!'

She recalled their time together auditioning for Anything But Love, as well as the process of filming the sitcom together for years and their lasting friendship following the conclusion of the show.

Curtis noted that, because Lewis 'helped' her,' she is 'forever grateful for him for that act of grace alone.'

'He found love with Joyce [Lapinsky] and that, of course, besides his sobriety, is what mattered most to him. I'm weeping as I write this,' she wrote at the time.
