Expect to see more Dinosaurus early next year
Image: Prime VideoInvincible season 4 wrapped on April 22, and the finale left plenty of big questions for season 5 to answer. If you’re looking forward to continuing to watch Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) pushed to his mental and physical limits, you won’t have to wait long. Season 5 of the Prime Video show is already in the works, and you can expect more gory action, high-stakes battles, and moral dilemmas when it returns. Given the show has been a faithful adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s Image Comics series, we can also make some smart guesses about where the story is headed next.
Here’s everything we know about Invincible season 5, from possible plot details to a rough guess at the release date.

Is Invincible season 5 confirmed?
Yes, Amazon renewed the show for a fifth season in July 2025. At the time, Deadline also confirmed that Matthew Rhys would be joining the cast.
What is the plot of Invincible season 5?
Image: Prime VideoAt the end of season 4, Grand Regent Thragg (Lee Pace) and the surviving Viltrumites moved to Earth to replenish their population by mating with humans. Mark agreed to keep their presence on the planet a secret. Meanwhile, the newly appointed Coalition of Planets leader Allen (Seth Rogen) received posthumous orders from his predecessor Thaedus (Peter Cullen) to use an improved version of the Scourge Virus to wipe out the Viltrumites, even if it would also kill humans.
Assuming Kirkman and co-showrunner Simon Racioppa stay true to the comics, season 5 will develop both plots, putting Mark and Allen into conflict. Season 5 will also see the return of Dinosaurus (Rhys), the Hulk-like villain that Mark nearly killed in the season 4 premiere. Dinosaurus is a physical threat to Mark, but has also tried to appeal to him on moral grounds. A radical environmentalist and utilitarian, he argued that the Invincible War in season 3 was good for Earth because the planet was overpopulated.
Depending on how fast the show moves, we could also see the return of Monster Girl (Grey Griffin/Kevin Michael Richardson) and Robot (Ross Marquand), who were stranded in the Flaxan dimension when they went through a portal to try to stop the latest invasion in season 3. Cecil (Walton Goggins) decided that trying to rescue them was too dangerous, but don’t worry, they’ll find their own way home.
When will Invincible season 5 be released?
Invincible got an early renewal in 2025, meaning that season 5 is already well into production. Given previous release cycles, we expect the new season to premiere on Prime Video in early 2027. Look out for another self-referential teaser trailer later this year that will provide the official release date.
