Emily Gambin has shared how model Sahara Ray agreed to 'work for peanuts' just to help her fledgling fashion label.

Sahara, who died on Sunday at age 34 after a drug overdose, was approached by the influencer, who posts online as Em Davies, to model for her brand.

Gambin, who previously ran the Venem 1.0 brand, said on Tuesday that Sahara was a 'pure' and 'beautiful' person who had a side many didn't see.

'What made the experience even more special is how beautiful Sahara was as a person. So kind, so warm, so generous,' Em wrote on Instagram, while sharing photos from their campaign for her fashion collection.

'I knew she believed in me. She didn't have to take a chance on a random girl from Perth and a brand that hadn't even started, but she did, and for peanuts I might add.

'She was pure as f**k.'

The 31-year-old added a tribute to the young mother, who she said she was broken-hearted to lose.

'I'm so beyond sad to hear of her passing, especially knowing she has a little baby of her own. My heart breaks for her family and everyone who loved her,' Em wrote.

'I'll forever be grateful that our paths crossed and that she became part of a story that started all those years ago sitting beside my mum scrolling through Instagram.

'Life is so incredibly short. Rest peacefully, beautiful girl.'

The model died from a fentanyl overdose just months after she became a first-time mother, to baby daughter Snow.

Sahara overdosed on the deadly opioid Friday night and was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital, a source close to the model told the Daily Mail.

She last communicated with her fans back in July when she uploaded photos of her little girl to Instagram.

'My whole heart [white love heart emoji]. Baby Snow,' the bikini designer wrote next to the sweet images.

Sahara announced the arrival of Snow in January, sharing photos of her bundle of joy, though she never revealed the identity of her child's father.

On Monday, Sahara's family confirmed to TMZ that the new mother had died.

'She passed away last night surrounded by family at the hospital. She was so loved,' her family said.

Sahara, the daughter of big wave surfer Tony Ray, first made headlines in August 2016 when she was rumoured to have dated Justin Bieber, after they were famously caught by paparazzi enjoying a skinny dipping session.

She was also previously romantically linked to male supermodel Jordan Barrett and Aussie singer Cody Simpson.
