EXCLUSIVE: UK-based nonfiction agency INDOX has boarded Lilyana Torres’ hybrid feature I Want To Kill My Grandfather and Josef Gatti’s immersive science documentary Phenomena for worldwide festival representation.

I Want To Kill My Grandfather is currently in post-production and is described as a “darkly playful hybrid work that blurs documentary and fiction.” The film follows a filmmaker who sets out to make a documentary about killing her grandfather, the man who once hired sicarios to attack her father. The film is co-directed by Carlos Morales (Symphony of a Sad Sea) and produced by Gabriel Stavenhagen (Rotting In The Sun) via The Lift Films and Lizzie Gillett (Lowland Kids) via Misfits Entertainment.

“When I first spoke with Luke, I felt he immediately understood the spirit of the film and the delicate balance between the strange humor and pain that runs through it,” Torres said in a statement. “That kind of instinct is rare. It made me feel the film had found the right home to reach audiences.”

Phenomena debuted at True/False Film Festival before playing CPH: DOX.

The project is described as a “psychedelic journey into the fabric of the universe.” The film is shot entirely in-camera without visual effects. The film is produced by Rob Innes for Mashup Pictures alongside Josef Gatti for Gatti. The executive producers are Jessica Harrop and Caitlin Mae Burke of Sandbox Films, and Jad Abumrad.

“Our team is very excited to be working with Luke and INDOX. We feel that he not only understands the potential and vision for Phenomena, but has a genuine passion for the film,” Innes said in a statement.
